Lou, Cape is correct. If you have a pea gravel bog, just plop them in there. If you want to contain it in a pot in your pond, use the pea gravel/kitty litter/pea gravel or larger rock on top. They are VERY easy to grow, and I have bunches yet I want to thin out. I won't throw them away, I am hoping to get rid of another 30 of them with the local ad, but would much prefer to ship them to ponders for postage! Let me know if you want some, how many, and PM me with your address. Glad to ship you some! Digging tonight ....
While I would love to have cattails they may be too invasive for me to control. Thanks anyway CE.

You CAN control them Lou. Just keep a few in a pot, and when they start getting crowded, just pull some out and toss in the compost pile. With their variegated leaves, they are so pretty. Remember, your fast growing, invasive plants are HUNGRY (exceptional cleaners).

Tempting but not practical given my limitations. Past lessons learned the hard way. So very grateful to you both.

I have them in my bog, easy to control, they have not taken over. All the pond / bog plants seem to be invasive, once they start growing they keep growing and spreading.

Now I feel bad ... feeling like I talked you out of a wonderful plant:-( (sniffle)
Don't feel sad my friend. I asked and you answered. We no longer have a bog and are especially careful about both pond and garden plants we use. Believe me ladies when I tell you it's for the best. We take pride in everything we do so growing a water plant that we may be unable to properly maintain is not good being a good pond shepard.

Thank you so much.
Lou

Nice to see:) Feeling the same here today. Here;s a picture of what has me all smiles:) The white box is MINE (I mean a 20 x 25 for HIS lilies, and MY babies, hehe) ... the other box is a 20 x 20 for the client ... stopped by to see her tonight, and she is as excited as you and I combined (now if the dang stock tank would come in, we could get it installed for her).

Wow, Cape, now you need to get to digging and get that new liner in and going! And, no worries about the cattails ... you needing more, cause I HAVE MORE!!! I pulled at least 12 tonight, others want one or two, and I'll be pulling more tomorrow night and getting things ready to ship. You will get the "mother load" once again ... but it will be close with MtPond ... she wants "some of everything". :blueflower:
KoiGuy, I sure missed you! Glad you got your pond filled and nursery ready to go. Now, get those fishies out into their outside home again! They are anxious to see the sunshine and then swim and jump. Tonight while I was messing in the bog, twice the goldfish jumped out of the water. Once one skimmed the waters surface and went about 2' like that. Was fun to watch them. Glad my sides are up about 8-10" higher than the water's surface. Don't want anyone jumping out in their frenzy to spawn.
I also know that 2 of my largest koi are females, Lucy was properly named after all!!! Hoping to have some babies make it from her this year. Last year, the large yellow koi had the 4 babies that I still have. Four went into winter, and 4 survived. I'm happy!

Hubby would be laughing his ass off reading that ... me with a shovel???? THAT is funny;-) I thought I was going to be helpful and dig a bed for all his dalhias last year (about 100 or so then) ... after all of 15 minutes I gave up and waited for him to come home with the machine! Here;s a pic of his "shovel";-)

I can definately relate to that some of everything ... I'm on my third package coming, and have gone to the dry land plants too LOL. I told hubby to be worried about what you could send this time, and he says no worries ... he plans on getting to the bog's gravel soon, and he does have shelves in there too LOL. Just get everyone else taken care of first. Which remind me, I forgot to grab a pic of the salvia ... I think that little bed is going to look awsome with the creeping Jenny added to it :)
