Just relating my personal experience w/ them so far here in Washington. We are waiting for the big one to hit someday and my opinion of them here will prolly change if it happens while I'm still alive.
I just remember one in about 1966 when on the way to high school on a trolley bus going up a huge hill. Things started shaking and the driver stopped the bus and we all watched the chimney's fall of the houses on that street. Then went on to school to find out they wouldn't let us in cuz the walls were cracked in some places..................got a free day off out of it!

we had a little tremour here in cumbria a few month ago, but it wasnt much just felt a rumble, i didnt think it was a quake at first as the whole area i live in is undermined with mine shafts from the coal mining era, and i thaught it was one of the mines collapsing ! my other half mirka used to live in japan before she moved to uk, and she new what it was straight away, as she has experianced quite a few in japan.

John I hear New Zealand is a pretty place to visit, someday I hope to go there. Years ago before all these reality shows there was a show on Discovery call Eco challenge, it was where adventure racers had to race from one point to the next. There were four people per team and it was brutal, you had to hike, bike, repel, raft all sort of things and there was this team called the Kiwis that were from New Zealand. They were a very good team and one year it was held in New Zealand and ever since I saw that I have wanted to go there. Someday.

Chief gardener sought for British queen's estate

LONDON -- Nice work if you can get it: Queen Elizabeth II is seeking a chief gardener to look after the grounds of Balmoral Castle, her Scottish retreat.
The position offers prestige, challenges and a chance to live on the castle's extensive grounds.
The jobs ad says she is seeking someone who is self motivated, has good management skills and requires minimal supervision.
The 50,000-acre estate located 520 miles (835 kilometers) north of London was purchased by Queen Victoria in 1848 and has served as the royal family's Scottish base since that time. Victoria called it her "paradise in the Highlands."
It is privately owned by the queen.

Tmann do you think you will get the job for the queen's gardener? I'll put in a good word for ya! Bring her the little twin raccoons as a gift for the grounds!
Make sure and let her know that they love grapes, lol

Travis; I'm sure you would enjoy a visit to NZ. We were there for five weeks about six years ago, and got to see much of the South Island. Accommodations are on the expensive side, however, so it helps to have friends or relatives who don't mind putting you up for a while. At that time our daughter lived just outside of ChCh, so we got to see much of the city. Now when I see pictures of the destruction and recognize places we saw, I just want to cry! The beautiful cathedral, churches, and many larger buildings are all damaged beyond repair. But away from that city, everything is still as it was, and well worth a visit. You might want to wait until the shaking stops, though! John

well since yesterday the landline phone hasnt been working and my internet speed has dropped, so i have to phone sky (my provider) to send out an engineer to repair the fault, as the land line is out i phone them via skype on the computer, and an asian guy takes my call, i found it very hard to understand him and had to get him to repeat everything 2 or 3 times ! was hard work, he asks for my mobile number so i can unplug the modem and phone so he can do a line test to see if there is a fault, i gave him my mobile number and he says " end this call and i will call you on your mobile" ok i said, i then turn to mirka and said" it doesnt help when you get bloody pakistani's who you cannot understand" and then done a pakistani sounding rant !! then his voice came over the computer and said " hello sir will you please end this call" i had forgot to turn skype off !! he had been listning to my little rant about him ! how embarassed i felt, lol

Mogsie; you heard correctly....the biggest industry in Mumbai, India, is call centers that answer complaints and inquiries from around the world. If you have a problem understanding, you can ask to be transferred to someone in your own country. When I tried this I was put on "hold" for five or six minutes, and then the exact same voice came back on the line asking if he could help! John
