:) Very nice set Sissy! Is stainless steal easy to keep clean?? If I get a new fridge stove I would like it to be red! :D

We have stainless, it stays real nice. They sell wipes for it, now and then wipe it down looks great. Believe me I am not an aggressive house cleaner............

I just use the stainless cleaner from pledge and it works .I did not like the finger printless stainless it just looks dull ,but finger prints do show .I like the blue interior of the range .I would love red appliances too but gosh they cost a small fortune .They have them in a kitchen set up at the counter top store .But 10 thousand dollars for the range and it is 48 inches wide is to much and if you want the smaller 40 inch it is 8 thousand and fridge was 15 thousand and dishwasher was a bargain only 5 thousand  Plus if I do decide to sell stainless would sell the house better .Gosh you should see them in blue also .I will have to take pics if i get there again .

color costs big bucks .I have seen where people take there appliances to auto paint shops to get them done .I saw it on the DIY network a couple of nights ago .They bought mid range appliances and then paid a thousand dollars to have them custom sprayed pink ,I like pink but that was a bit much ,it was a mid century modern house though .They could not decide between teal and pink and they went pink .It did look nice .

Stainless appliances are something you are either going to love, or hate... I didnt see much of a middle ground... In our old house, we had a SS fridge... kids were younger... the drips marks from the ice/water was never ending... couldnt just grab the sponge, as it would streak... I HATED IT...

Now the kids are older but did cabinet panels on both the fridge and freezer (seperate units).. same for the DW... got the cabinet panel... Stove on the other hand is 60" SS... it doesnt have the mirror finish, which is better for keeping fingerprints at bay... I only get the SS cleaner out about once a year... the hood/vent cover on the other hand, wish I had done cabinet surround but a 60" cabinet would not have looked right there, so bit the bullet and paid for the SS...

I agree that the OLD appliances lived an easy 20-30 yrs, and they sure dont make them like they used to. I've had the front load washer/dryers for 8 yrs now... on my 2nd set, which is 5 yrs old (the first set didnt fail, they were damaged unrelated to use)... With the first set, the washer's computer failed after about a yr, and it only took Sears a few days to get a repair man out and fix it... covered under warranty... No problems with the 2nd set, although I did have to call in for a repair on the dryer, and again, only a few days for a tech to come out... nothing wrong with the dryer... kid left one of those plastic cards that belongs on a keychain in their pocket, and it was stuck in the vent... no charge, and while the tech was here, checked both machines, as I didnt realize the warranty included an annual service check up... Both times I bought the front load machines, I did buy the same machines, just the newer set was 3 yrs newer. No regrets with them at all (GE Elites). My electric and water bills DID go down sustancially BTW...

most people want stainless no matter what .They see it on tv the have to have it and you can see it over and over again on hgtv and diy networks .Just like granite I hate it and had it in my kitchen in NJ and prefer quartz more anti microbial as stainless does not harbor bacteria either .Just like cabinets white verses dark and light .I would have loved commercial grade appliances like I had in NJ ,they are better made but market here would not support them ,but house in NJ demanded them .It all comes down to market and actually stainless here is an upgrade also , but I wanted the look .Oh well I am a sucker for shiny things . :lamp5:

Unless someone is planning to sell a house within a short period, it really doesnt matter what the market will support. You buy what you like. A pool or koi pond really isnt going to recoop much of the investment, but people do them anyways;-) When we built this house, we went top of the line on the appliances (to the tune of $30k for 4 items) and I have no regrets. We put in the sweat equity to afford them. Counters we did granite in the kitchen (I actually got them cheaper than the laminats were!) but in the 4 bathrooms, the counters are all remnants of laminat;-)

I had decide on glass infused quartz here .Easy to take care of .All counters going to be changed over .I hate the high def laminate I got but decided whatever for now .That was 8 years ago .The big bump out on the sink part is causing problems as they made a templet and some one reversed it so it was cut wrong .

All it really is is ground up quartz and glass sprinkled in like they do with concrete .Less than granite here and much prettier because you get to pick the color of glass you want added to it and the amount .Plus you can under light it with LED strip lights and they show through .

Out of no where, we had a few granite places open up... forced the prices low. Granite ended up being $4000, verses what I originally wanted was a wood trimmed laminate, and that quoted out at $6800...

We've been thinking about redoing our kitchen countertops and so had to go check out what sissy was talking about in the quartz type. Found these in case anyone is interested:

Thanks for posting all the vids... I was having a brain cramp, and did look at those too. They price out about the same as granite. One thing I did NOT like about the videos was some of the info about the care of granite. It is misleading at best. NOT ALL granites need to be sealed by the homeowner. It all comes down to the density of the stone, and how it was sealed. Our counters take a LOT of abuse, including being used as a work bench, and you name it has been on them, and still look brand new.

I think that is why people buy standard color appliances and take them to auto body shops to have them painted ,much cheaper .I don't want to put to much more money into this house in case I decide to sell and hoping the views from my house will sell it .
