Really neat article about the garden spider, Addy. Thanks for posting that. Good to know that all the pretty girls are ladies! Poor boys, they have their fun and then get eaten! I'll be waiting for some egg sacks now. I sure hope to get more of them around my pond. Will take a pic of the large lady out by the barn found yesterday. She had just caught a 3" grasshopper, the size my big bullfrogs have a hard time eating, as it jumped to get away from my spray and landed in her web. She was really fat, so maybe going to lay eggs soon.
I, too, hope everyone is doing ok with Isaac coming to visit. It's supposed to hit here late tomorrow through Sat. evening. Anywhere from 2-6" of rain I've heard rumors of. HAD to add water to koi pond tonight, darn it, skimmer was floating, needed more water to get enough to fill the bog to the top again. Oh well!

OMG, KoiGuy, that was hilarious!!! Loved it.
Here are the Garden Spiders that I have spotted on my "farm". The first pic is the one right off of my deck, and she has a really nice zig-zag design.

This one was spotted when I was spraying the weeds growing up on the north side of my barn. She's much larger, and looks ready to lay some eggs possibly.

JW, the spider on the zig zag web by my deck has kept that pattern the whole time. The other spider did not have it as distinctly. The one by the barn caught a huge grasshopper while I was walking through, scared it into her web. Watched her make short work or wrapping that sucker up before it tore her web. There was another grasshopper that was caught, but it was smaller, and not moving around, so she finished the big one before she went for that one. No wonder she has such a large belly. LOL I fed the smaller one a small grasshopper and she enjoyed it, too. Had to rebuild her web, though, as when she wrapped it she turned it around and around to wrap, which tore the web. I think the website said they redo their webs every day, though. I like the way the picture is focused on her and her web shows up really well, with the pond in the background fuzzed out! It was on the micro mode. Can't wait to get my good camera back. It takes far better pics close up like this!

It's misty raining this morning, and Ms. Garden Spider off of my deck is rebuilding her web. No zig zag yet, waiting to capture pics of that when she's done. She is working very slowly, so must be the "pot spider" from the video. :)

Weird one CE and never saw one like that!
I like the spider web pic w/ the drops of rain where you are looking through it onto your pond. You might want to enter that into the photo contest.

Yep, JW, I've taken way more, trying to figure out which ones are best for seeing the web, and the drops of water, AND the spider. My other camera would have captured it far better, but I need to quit complaining!
On a good note, I went out to the trash and found my DISH remote! Good thing I tried to turn on my tv yesterday. I have not had it on for probably 3 weeks or longer, and when I noticed the remote was missing, and the tv remote on the floor next to the garbage can ... the garbage can I just yesterday dumped out into bag and put in trash outside ... was really glad to have found the remote and it's undamaged. Whew! Now, music on Sirrus is what I'm listening to, then when I sit down, going to catch up on the Tanked episodes. :)

Gunman shooting people near our house right now where I walk everyday. He or they don't know if 2 people or not are shooting at people walking, in their yards and cars driving by. One guy got shot in the leg. Telling us to stay in our houses and not go outside. He shot at the cops when they arrived on scene. This guy is hiding up in the hills in the woods shooting down on anyone who shows their face. I did not go for my walk today cuz we are loading up the camper. Helicopters and armored vehicles on scene. Yikes!!!
