Your gardens and ponds look lovely @callingcolleen1 . Are you going to be on the garden tour again this year?
No not this year but I am going to see our local Garden tour in town. I used to go with my mom to the local garden tours but it would be too hard to take her now. She needs special transport and it would be too much for her. This year I will take hubby wirh me. I think he will enoy it and I love to see what others are doing in their gardens.

Just watched your video, yes until the end. The arrangement of you garden sure has a wow factor. Your pathway and pond is beautifully done, especially the ponds. I think I have just got a small case of envy looking at your mature plants, and fish who let you pet them

Do you have racoons in Medicine Hat?
We don't have them here.
We have some living down by the river from what I heard. Maybe they are by the creek too, which is not to far from my house. They have also been spotted at Police Point Park as well. Hoping they won't be back as I have dogs... Old doggy and little tiny fat chiwawa too!

I bought another new Aquascape light, the last one did not last 5 years like they said.... But I did run it all summer winter for about three years... None of the big pond lights will last that long in my experience. It was on sale for 99 dollars so I got another one. I need to have a bright spotlight for that pond as it is 5 feet deep. I used to have Pond Max lights and they don,t even last two years. The smaller lights seem to last longer but for some reason the big lights just don't last as long. I am using the light sparingly so it will last longer and I will put it away this winter as well.

I have been so busy with my mother these days, she is back in the Hospital because she needs a higher level of care than what Meadowland can provide. So she was placed back into the hospital until we can find her a "forever" home. My mother lost her placement at a long term care facility here in town, because of my vegan sisters. They caused so much trouble, trying to force the vegan diet on my mother, they complained so much and created so much drama, the one vegan sister really messed up, threatening to sue the home, sue everyone, claimed she won millions and was going to sue, and screamed at staff and called the director horrible names and had police called on her. It was so horrible that no home in town wants to take my mom because of the trouble sisters caused. I had to now ban her from setting foot at the hospital so that her "track record" will go away and hopefully my mother can find a place in town. I did not tell her where mother is or she will harass and create problems with staff. She just does not get it, and thinks she can force her vegan diet on our 80 year old mother, who never wanted to be vegan. The only option right now is to another town far way... Its ok, cause my mother is getting the best of care right now and I don't have to drive out of town to see her.

Your front garden is just gorgeous! I bet it is even better in person. It is still hard for me to understand how those perennials can look so great when they were under all that snow and ice and way sub zero temps for so long. Nature is so amazing.

Somehow I missed your Aquascape pond lighting video, very nice ! The front gardens and guppy pond look fantastic! You're enjoying an amazing growing season this summer!

I'm so sorry about the situation with your Mom :( I don't understand how anyone can make your Mom eat something she doesn't want.

Your yard and guppy pond look fantastic! So many pretty plants blooming.

I read about your situation w/your mom on facebook. That was just awful what your sisters did. Sorry you and your mom have to go through this. Hope you can find a nice secret place to let your mother get the care she needs and the peace and quiet for her future. You may have to get a restraining order to keep them away from where ever she lives as they may come and try to disrupt things again. Sad it is the way it is but what else can you do? You have to keep her safe and happy. She deserves that.

I was so upset but now I feel things happen for a reason. My mother's heart might be failing and the hospital is the best place for her right now. She also had another bladder infection as well so she is in good hands. I am praying she can get a nice place in town with good care. The hospial also has security right there and a social worker in that ward should vegan sister find out where my mother is. I post here about it as a way to "vent" and I highly dought she reads this at all. I still feel very bad that she has to "stay away" as she loves mom dearly but causes too much trouble with staff and tells mom very inappropiate stuff.
So in the meantime I have been researching Conjestive Heart Failure (CHF) as they tell me my mother has this. My mother had slow thyriod her most her life and from what I read that and her high blood pressure can lead to "CHF" . There are also other causes as well, it can be inherited from mother/father as well. Lots of her sibblings seem to have had similar issues and passed in their early 80's
Then I started to think about my one vegan sister. For 30 years she was treated for "depression" with pills that never helped. Now I find out that Thyriod issues can cause depression, and I have seen my "skinny" vegan sister with swollen ankles and she cannot grow any eyebrows anymore. Swollen ankles first sign of CHF and she is always tired (another sign) and the thinning hair and no eyebrows are a caused by Thyriod issues. If you get help early CHF can be controlled and treated but I am worried cause she thinks her vegan diet will fix everything and "treats herself". I spoke to her son who I am very close to and maybe he can talk her into getting herself checked out. But she is so obsessed about her vegan lifestyle that I really don't think she will seek the help and advise of a doctor. I still love her and worry about her as we were very close for many years until she went vegan and hated me for not following her vegan diet as well. All I can do is hope and pray for her as I know she is very sick with other issues that cause her to puke all the time. I feel bad that she has to stay away from mother till we can get her a "forever home". But I can't screw up another chance to get our mother placed in town.... Its all so sad....
