I am watching our temps, will be surprised if we drop as low as we did. One thing here, it can snow a lot and it is usually gone in under a week. We never stay cold for a long time. The big pond is still 48f. I run nothing in the winter.

I am going to do like @GBBUDD suggested, buy another one, put some blocks in it, put the other tank on top of the blocks and spray foam the heck out of it. That will give it some good insulation. In the spring, when I can move the fish a bit easier.

Eventually will try to make it look less like a tank and more like a pond, but most likely not, except maybe something nice looking wrapping it. Like rock on a roll. Except that will give snakes a good grip to get up into the tank.....................so far this tub pond stayed snake free.

Get out your artistic talents and paint the sides of the tub w/natural scenery or whatever you like. Or if you don't do art then maybe you know someone who does?
Something like this, simple or something more complicated, whatever.

Down the road I will figure something out or just let it be a black tank sitting on the pad. First need to tear down a hot tub, get it hauled out, buy another tank, move the old tank on and on.

Then worry about pretty. The fish don't care!

@addy1 What i think may look pretty cool is to leave the Rubbermaid showing in the middle and get some weathered wood and stand them up on the corners like pier posts. Maybe @Jhn can keep an eye out for some he probably pulls old rotted ones out frequently. I know you love the shore so it would bring a little home

Neat idea! My next problem would be to get them home. Our 06 subaru Baja had a catastrophic clutch failure, cracked the transmission and engine. So it was declared dead. it was our only truck.

None our cars can carry pilings, pier posts.

Uhaul or home depot . You could always look into the polyurethane columns but if your full sun you may want to make sure they are uv stable. or make it simple and get some literal drift wood 2x8 x4 footers and make a corner

@addy1 Could do that if your boat is still at the same marina and the next time you are coming by to check on it. I can drop them off there/load them in your vehicle as we are working on redecking A and D dock this winter.

We are on dock B. Right near the fuel dock.

Aww so nice to offer, we just have nothing to haul with. Those deck boards are nicely weathered! The challenger, stinger or camaro just don't make good hauling vehicles. The challenger has a nice big trunk , but not sure I would want to toss boards into it. And no clue when we will get over there. I check on the boat daily via the cams I have set up (6) and weather station which keeps track of the temperature in the boat and of course outside. I also have high water alarms set up, get a email if they go off.

Our boat is the same place. We normally would be there over winter, but we got it ready to be put on land to fix the rudder leak. All water drained, all tanks drained etc. Last word being put on land soon, so I asked what soon meant. I want it back by March, last year it was on land until memorial weekend. This may be the last year we can use it, I am hoping for a few more years. Time will tell the story.

The marina is under new owners, they are trying to catch up with all the worn out stuff. The original owners sold / gave / the marina to their kids. The kids had no interest on keeping it going. So they sold it to some big marina corporation. Waiting to see how high our fees go up.

Many will say that it was they who repaired it. just like now going after gas stoves, dryers, furnaces and fire inserts . same as those who want beef banned because cows fart.
for the next decade it will be wind and solar, but that too will go by the way side , environmentalist will scream its killing the birds and sea life, there's no utopian answers no matter how much they dream. THOUGH I firmly believe after this next dream is over Nukes will prevail. They have answered the need to be at huge amounts of water to cool the reactors , they are now using gas, it triples the working temps with no water at all.
Once people start seeing the strip mines, just like coal. Eeverything exnihilated, waters polluted, recycling batteries not viable, nukes should be back in full force 10 years from now.

I agree with that assessment @GBBUDD - everyone is all about the utopia of electricity, but most people never ask themselves "how do we actually MAKE electricity?" The answer is natural gas (ironic), nuclear (ditto), and coal (likewise). Hardly the "clean energy" they want us to picture, added to the issues that making and disposing of all those batteries will cause. And that doesn't even touch on the issue of our fragile power grid... anyway!

I love innovation and think we should do everything we can to preserve our natural resources, but the reality is we all impact the planet. Heck the PLANET impacts the planet - one volcanic eruption can cause a tremendous amount of environmental damage. Someone let Mother Nature know she needs to knock that off!
