I have a pair of owls that have been hanging around for the last couple of weeks which I hope nest here. 5 or 6 years ago they nested in an old squirrel nest in the neighbors spruce tree. It was pretty neat to see them all the time. I showed the neighbor kids the owl pellets which they thought were pretty cool. They changed their mind to pretty gross when I told them what they were.

I've got owls here out in the woods but I don't see them too often. Sometimes I'll hear them calling in the distance before sunrise.

Neat! JB I was watching it fluff the nest a lot yesterday, sort of thinking it looked like it was ready to lay an egg.

I see the eagle sitting on the nest right now, yay!

yep, they'll be there nonstop now. Every once in a while you'll see it get up and rotate the egg and sit again. Earlier the male eagle was calling out quite a bit while the female was out hunting.

Just watched one fly away and the other come back to sit on the egg. Beautiful birds.

Yes it did, poor bird, guess they don't feel cold like we do or he/she would be an ice cube by now.

They can handle it. Whether nesting or not, they're exposed to the weather 100% of the time. Think of the huge populations of eagles way up in Alaska. They are definitely ok with a little cold and snow.

I have to wonder tho if an eagle who's home has been back in the coldest area's of the country ever decided to take a trip to another warmer part would he go back?

Both eagles were just there with a nice shot of the egg. One of them, I think the female (still can't tell them apart too well but female is bigger), just brought back a bunch of twigs for the nest.
