is it the Root River where they have the weirs for the salmon coming up to spawn? My daughters 8th grade science teacher did a field trip down there and I took the kids there quite a few times after that. I can drive to the park but couldn't tell you what streets names I turn on.

I do too. One of my favorite things to find (along with turtles and salamanders). The larger ones are still intimidating enough that I don't pick them up, but I'm working towards it. Surprisingly, I haven't been bit yet but they sure as heck have tried!

Just a squirrel today. First one I've seen in awhile, actually. Not many animals out in this weather.

Here's an Orca breaching off Vancouver Island. There are tons of better shots of this occurrence, but I actually witnessed this one. A friend captured the moment.

I am missing the outdoors though. Once these windchills get back up above 0°, I'll be going for a walk. Hopefully by next weekend!

If anyone is interested, it's that time of year again! Some of you may have heard of the Decorah Bald Eagles. You can watch them live here:

No eggs yet, but judging by previous years, it may happen in the next week or so. Right now the eagles have been busy gathering sticks for the nest. Fun watching one bring back a stick and then if they're both at the nest, they both put it in place.

Eggs should hatch around the first week of April.

We have a lot of eagles around here, especially at salmon spawning time. I've never seen such a bird's-eye view, though - and a real-time feed, no less!

The eagles are out and about right now and theres a little mouse hopping around the nest! haha.
