How many of the little ones will survive Red? Or do they all get eaten before they even hatch?
There's only two holdovers from last year's hundreds of eggs, so maybe just a few will make it. Many eggs wind up unfertilized, eaten or die from lack of oxygenated water flow.

Guess that's ok then cuz you keep them as pets and don't eat them so you wouldn't want to overpopulate.

Here's from today's walk in the woods. Walking through knee-deep snow is a hell of a workout, but still worth getting outdoors.

Pretty ones JB. Did you paint them? Can't wait for Spring/Summer to see the real ones too. I'm seeing a few bulb plants coming up now in my yard.

Family member told me I had another photo on the news, just last night. I didn't know it was going to be on so I didn't get to see it, but it was this photo I took of a chickadee yesterday. :)

Where are the pictures taken on the Roor River? Where I am in southern Milwaukee county the Root is more like a creek.

In Racine. Colonial Park/Lincoln Park area.
My cousin lived in Franklin by the river, so I know what you mean. Its narrower there and the majority of it is in between farmlands. Its generally an ignored part of the river.

Most of the stretch of river in Racine is really nice. I did some canoeing up and down it this past summer.
