This past week was both hell and very cool. I was in some of the most secluded parts of the project being 55 miles long and walking through some of the thickest and dense vegetation most plants are nearing full size now. The ticks are getting bad when i pull 20 off in a short span that just does me wrong. But the worst is the dawn fawns there first defense is not to move, they have no sent for preditors to find them and the camp is beyond good. well when they wait until your about 5 feet away to run . I don't care who you are it gets you every time. hapened twice with fans and three times with grouse they at least take off when your closer to ten feet though some wait till your almost stepping on them . pl

We had an interesting WILDlife experience this afternoon - there was a pair of rat snakes canoodling outside in front of the house and then a third, larger male showed up & was trying to either get in on the action, or run off the interloper! It got pretty heated, as far as rat snake battles go, and I'm not sure who ended up the 'victor', but I'm guessing that we're not going to be short on Wallys anytime in the near future!!

Was bitten by a Lone star tick two weeks ago and got really sick. Thought I had Corona virus. They are all over here (VA)

unfortunately they have made a huge come back. the biggest losser to them has got to be the moose population in the north east i fear they will become iredicated from that part of the country. The average moose in NH and Maine has between 30 and 70 THOUSAND ticks on them it is the saddest sight to see what is called a ghost moose. They rub so hard and often they wear the outside coat right off . Moose are a double coated animals. The inner coat is white thus the ghost moose. even the butchers will no longer except animals that have not been skinned. The whole process im not a fan of. They are an credibly majestic animal, Dumb but none the less I would love to see hunters take responcibility for the sport and shoot traquilizer guns with a tick vaccine like they have for dogs. I am not sure if it works for them but it would be nice to see a lttle help for the breed.

unfortunately studies have found that ticks have and transmit all sorts of wonderful diseases. One if the tick bites you for as little as 15 minutes it can transmit bacteria that can make its way up and will eat away at brain tissue. An other is you will not be able to eat red meat. And then there is the well known Lyme that i have had three times now. The first time i was diagnosed was way back when they knew very little about lyme. i got the traditional bullseye around the bite i never saw the tick. the second i got the bullseye alright as the tick was a female and had actually burrowed into my side . Most disgusting experience i ever had. and the third i got a rash on only half of my body. The entire right side rashed out it was like someone ran a roller right up my body it was almost the pronounced line . Two of the three was antibiotics and no big deal the other was no damn fun at all my joints felt like they were rocks and i had to break them every time i went to move. So needless to say i do a thorough tick check coming in from my walks and one little tip if your going to be walking through tall grasses and weeds or even just the woods is to use GORILLA duck tape and wrap it around your pants and tape them to your boots. The gorilla is so sticky if they try to make there way in they get fly papered by the duct tape

I hope you got treatment. I was bit in early April; didn’t know it and because it was behind my knee, thought it was a blood blister. I scratched it and it popped, it was so small and engorged. Had been very ill the day before, fever and all. I didn’t get the bulls eye rash but did have a rash running down my calf and at the bite location. Did a teledoc session and got put on antibiotics for Lyme disease. I did a lot of research on Lyme disease. Very difficult to diagnose in those with late stage symptoms.

Coming from the Adirondacks I was always told that the moose died off completely in the Northeast due to a brain worm...I wonder if it was originally due to a tick bites. I never saw a tick up there until a couple of years ago...Of course I never needed air conditioning up there until recently either....
