unfortunately studies have found that ticks have and transmit all sorts of wonderful diseases. One if the tick bites you for as little as 15 minutes it can transmit bacteria that can make its way up and will eat away at brain tissue. An other is you will not be able to eat red meat. And then there is the well known Lyme that i have had three times now. The first time i was diagnosed was way back when they knew very little about lyme. i got the traditional bullseye around the bite i never saw the tick. the second i got the bullseye alright as the tick was a female and had actually burrowed into my side . Most disgusting experience i ever had. and the third i got a rash on only half of my body. The entire right side rashed out it was like someone ran a roller right up my body it was almost the pronounced line . Two of the three was antibiotics and no big deal the other was no damn fun at all my joints felt like they were rocks and i had to break them every time i went to move. So needless to say i do a thorough tick check coming in from my walks and one little tip if your going to be walking through tall grasses and weeds or even just the woods is to use GORILLA duck tape and wrap it around your pants and tape them to your boots. The gorilla is so sticky if they try to make there way in they get fly papered by the duct tapeView attachment 130216
Great tip GBBUDD! I will definitely duct tape this way any time I am out and about....

One of the last days through upper state NY. it truly is a beautiful area. its hard to believe upper state and NY city are on the same continent. Also found some twisted wire which pre dates barb wire and so glad the walk down is almost done .The thisle is growing fast. I'll take a field of thorns over thistle any day

We have triplets! I pulled pictures off the cam feed so not the best. It was so neat to watch them run full speed around the back field. Of course the vegetation hid them as they flew around my well growing yard.

Visited the first-year prairie restoration today. It's green, but it's almost entirely the weeds that have always grown here. I was able to find a young Black-eyed Susan.

I've got baby bird's. Neat nest above the living room window, probably barn swallows. I saw the pop when I went to turn the water on, looked up and saw a little beak. This camera sucks, but I think there are two chicks. I'm happy to have more bug eaters, and the adults are very pretty.

Not when all you see i a puff of white bouncing up in front of you and a little dark circle. I swear it's there way of giving the middle finger lol

Yes when you see them at play or eating or just walking through the woods or a field you have to stop and watch them it's a baby it can't be helped

Nest, yes, no parents swooping in to feed when I was out there. My pictures I took were much fuzzier, that phones camera sucks. I’ll try with this phones camera on a day off, or maybe tomorrow. All I could see was wide yellow edged beaks a little fuzzy grey heads, but I know that it was barn swallows last year. Just hopefully they reused the nest this year, as that’s bug control by my pond!

I see a lot of them this time of year, and then they are carrying a ton of babies on their backs.
Ewwwww...I have a real aversion to anything with more than four legs. I wish I didn’t since I spend most of my time outdoors. Since I moved to Virginia I have seen my share of wolf spiders which freak me out.
