Big, good looking fish!!
Thanks JW. I'm happy with most of the Koi. A few of them the judgement is still out but overall I like them a lot. Most of my fish are still goldfish. The oldest one I got in 2008. I remember when i first got them I had a bad case of high ammonia. We had some hot weather in March and I started feeding them and there was no bb in the pond to break down the ammonia. I lost all my fish except that one and I remember thinking he was so sad. He is still doing well 11 years later and has lot of new playmates! You have some big beauties!
Thank you. They were all purchased for $100 or less as 5-6" Koi. All my Koi were imported from Japan. They have some of the best examples of Koi.Big, good looking fish!!
Thanks. I do feed them a lot.... On the average 3 times a day.Wow, they've really grown !!! Interesting how the koi really stand out from the other pond fish, due to their size and markings.
Thank you. Five of the fish were 5-6 inches when I got them in May so they have almost doubled in length is a little over 4 months. I don't feed them too much at anyone time but today they ate ton. My 17 month old grandson came over and we let him fed them. Most of the food ended up on the rocks outside the pond because he had a hard time throwing the food far enough to go in the water!I'll repeat what Tula said - Wow they've really grown! It will be interesting to see what they will do in another year. Yours are as big as mine and mine are 10 and 13 years old. Thank goodness mine didn't grow as much as yours. I would need a bigger pond.

Thanks Addy. I'm not sure I need to go bigger but may get more pond equipment down the road. So I guess the whole summer i spent cleaning my filter and vacuuming the pond were not wasted. The water is "finally" getting clearer to where you can see the fish. Amazingly I am still vacuuming up a lot of sand. We did our pavers last year and it looks like more sand went into the pond then I ever thought!I see in the future a BIGGER pond! Your fish are looking good!
Lisa, That's funny. My daughter decided to teach him some sign language words to go along with his normal vocabulary so he kept signing the word "more" by putting his tiny hands together so we would keep giving the fish food. I'm attaching a few more pics that I took today. This is the clearest the water has been since I got my new pump/filter setup. That right there is the reason we tell people their 300 gallon pond is never gonna be big enough for those "small" koi!
They look great @CometKeith ! When we know our grandkids are coming, the fish get a few days without food ahead of time - they love to feed the fish and catch the frogs. Our little dog follows behind them and gobbles up all the pellets that don't make it to the pond.
I think Gemma has one. It’s something I may look into but not quite sure how I can hide it. Still enjoying summer here! 80’s yesterday and today is another nice day but I heard colder weather is coming this way! Took these pictures this morning.I've heard the RDF to a shower filter is the gold standard these days.....but pricey !
I know !!! It's amazing how some koi ponds ( I actually hesitate to refer to them as "ponds" ) are set up......big bucks!!!Holey Mac, those things are expensive! @Tula
