Wow! You really were right in the heat of it! We were driving home from Indy right around that time and I said to my husband "is there something about the city that keeps tornados from touching down? Because I really feel like this sky looks like it could produce a funnel at any minute." Later that night I saw people posting pictures of the funnel cloud - I was definitely not surprised!

Yes. It was really crazy. I don't ever remember being that scared by a storm that was about to hit. You could see only black and midnight blue really low on the horizon and it kept getting closer and closer with really high winds. The funny thing is the group I got stuck with were all a bunch of young beach type people that were all having a great time throughout the storm. The middle picture is not a river. It's Bryn Mawr ave under Lake Shore drive. Cars were driving on the sidewalk to get through, but when the water was several feet high they all started making U turns to get away. I met some other bicyclists after the storm ended and we worked together to find a way out of the area because all the viaducts were flooded!

@CometKeith Very cool day you had or should I say very wet! Neat that you stopped at all those different places and met many different people. If the day would have been nice and clear you wouldn't have got to be a part of it all!

JW. I have to admit it the first stop at the chess pavilion wasn't by accident! I actually stopped there to play a few games of chess and then it started raining. I'm actually pretty good at chess and it's fun to stop there and play people I see there. A few weeks ago I ran into someone there that I hadn't seen in 30 years and we had a nice conversation and played a few games. If I had rode straight home instead of stopping it would have saved me about 30 minutes and I probably would have got home nice and dry!

@CometKeith if you like chess I wish you could meet my son's friend, they started in middle school last year and went to check out the chess club. My son seems to have little interest, but his friend likes chess. A few evening's after school I would play him, by the end of the year he has won all matches within the school including the teacher. By the time winter was over, I was struggling to win. He is coming around next week for a game night of chess, from what I have seen and heard, there will be little contest, with me most likely been the loser. He is only twelve years old, but scary good at chess. Wish me luck.

Hi Tara. That sounds great about your son's friend. I think chess is a great sport and has a lot of benefits for young people. I started playing tournament chess in high school and used to travel to tournaments in New York and Philadelphia. The day I proposed to my wife I took her to see me play chess first so she knew what she was getting into! My daughter and son in law want me to teach my grandson to be a good chess player. I haven't played tournament chess in 25 years, but enjoy casual games played with a clock. I'm not a master but very close and it's always been fun when traveling to find people to play. Two years ago we went to Paris and we went to one of the parks and I met people and played chess there. People are always very nice when they see you are a good chess player and will open up to you much more than if you were a casual tourist they would meet. On several occasions people that I just met asked if I could get rid of my wife so I could sit and play chess with them all day!

I finally fixed my filter today so I can put a discharge hose on it. The nozzle was too close to my garage to fit a hose on it and I had to turn it a little so there is room to put the hose on now. It was actually pretty easy to do. I just needed to take the cover off and turn it. All my floaters have been acting as a bog but I definitely need to try to get the filter to clean the water a little better. I took some pictures of the fish. They are all goldfish except for two Koi. I only had a few babies since last year, but two of them are really pretty with long tails.

I couldn't resist to post a few more pics. You can kinda see the two Koi in the two bottom pics because they have the oval shaped orange-red markings. The first pic is of the pond with all the floaters taking over. I probably removed about 100 of them in the last week or so. The water hyacinths are starting to bloom because it's getting colder at night and it seems like they are multiplying at a slower rate now.

@CometKeith glad that it was so easy to get your filter turned to a good position to drain the gunk.

Your pond looks like Summer is still making all your plants grow so lush and the fish look so pretty. They are coming right up to you begging for food

Wow, I'm envious of your floaters !
Hi Tula. I can give you the recipe. 1/2 day of sun every day, filter not working because it's clogged with gunk, lots of food given to the fish and... fish waste as a result, and lots and lots of swirling water!
