Thanks Gemma. We have a lot of pollinators around the pond. I read that some pear trees need them and also both a male and female tree fairly close so maybe that is the answer? We don't know a lot about pear trees and have been learning about them.

Thanks Cas. I think so. One neighbor of ours initially wanted a fence between our yards and we had talked about splitting the cost. We recently set a time to get together for a cocktail one evening and I was sure they were going to ask about it and the subject never even came up!

Thanks Sissy and a lot of money too! My wife put the breaks on buying more plants and shrubs last month and when we added everything up even though I did a lot of the labor myself it still was quite a bit!
We just came back from Door County, WI. I took this picture from Little Sister Bay of the sunset. When I was going through my pictures I really liked this one because of the children you can see playing on the dock. View attachment 115081 .
Was that at the public beach? Sister Bay is only an hr and half drive for us. We try to get there & Nicolet Beach in Peninsula State Park weekly if we can in summer! I love it up there too. Also Sister Bay made it so you can walk around with open intoxicants, so you could grab a beer at Al Johnson's beer garden & take it over to the beach to enjoy.

Door County is a favorite spot of ours - I grew up near Green Bay, so we spent a lot of time there in the summer. We try to get up there now at least once a year - such a pretty place. You captured it perfectly!
Where at Lisa's? That's where I am. Where's your favorite place in Door Co?

Lisa. Thank you. We love it too. My wife and I have been going there almost every year since we got married 25 years ago. Also we both went there before that. I knew a woman that was from Kewaunee and we would go up to Door a lot and my wife went when she was a child with her parents. We enjoy the nature and all the arts there. We always took our children there when they were younger. It's a great place to relax and get away from everything.

Nathan. That picture was from Fred and Fuzzies. Have you ever been there? Here is another picture. Can you guess where it is in Door County? I'll give you a hint. There is a lighthouse all the way at the end of the walkway.

I don't think I could pick a favorite! We love Sturgeon Bay - the last trip we took we stayed at the Holiday Music Motel. Cool place! We've taken the ferry to Washington Island most trips - climbed the tower on our last visit. Schoolhouse Beach is always an interesting place to visit with the stone beach. We were there the year they had just planted the lavender fields at the Island Dairy. Our favorite cherry picking spot is Lautenbach's in Fish Creek. We love visiting the artist's studios - Egg Harbor and Ellison Bay and Sister Bay. And of course we always have to make it to Al Johnson's for breakfast and to see the goats on the roof! All beautiful! You're lucky to live in such a wonderful place!

Lisa. I'm going to chime in with my favorite places too. Theater in Peninsula Park from Northern Lights, Theater from Peninsula Players, and Door County Shakespeare. Bicycle riding in Peninsula Park and down Cottage Row in Fish Creek. gallery hopping down all the county roads,, Music at Birch Creek and Fish Creek Amphitheater, and any park that music shows up, breakfast at the Cookery and Al Johnsons, frozen yogurt from Just licked yet, checking out all the parks and nature trails, Fred and Fuzzies and all the cute restaurants around, making art at Hand's on Studio. Just hanging out near any beach or harbor. Fish boils even though my wife doesn't care for them, Shopping at the local markets and getting the good stuff you can only get in Door County like chocolate covered cherries, The list goes on and on..... :)

@CometKeith i haven't been there but I'll have to check it out (Fred & fuzzies). Is that Newport state park? I haven't checked out half the parks I should've there. As a kid it was whitefish dunes (sand dunes we called it), cave point & peninsula. Typically now we start at peninsula & hike the eagle trail or go to the beach. Picnic lunch & then finish in sister bay getting pizza to go from wild tomato and eating it at the park while the kids play or jump off the dock. My mom finally just made it to Washington island for the first time in 50 years she's lived in Green Bay. Lol so I've got a lot of catching up to do too! Now I just gotta convince my wife to branch out park wise.

Nathan. Fred and Fuzzies is in Little Sister Bay which is just south of Sister Bar. The entrance is right next to the gold course and there is a winding road to get there. It's a little hard to find, but worth it. It's a great place to grab a sandwich and hang out close to the water. They have a full bar and I think they have music sometimes too. I had a Cherry Margarita there when I was there the other day. Since we found it we go there every time we go to Door County. The last picture was from the Ridges Sanctuary which is in Baileys Harbor. It was our first time there and enjoyed walking around. They have a nice store there where you can find some good books and interesting learning tools about wildlife. I love Wild Tomato. They have great pizza. Also I play chess and know someone that works there that I play chess with when I visit Door. Have you ever gone to Hand on Studio? I would think your kids would love it there. They have art sessions that can range from one hour to the whole day. We have gone there for adult art too. They have all sorts of pottery, glass, metal etc. to work with.

I had a feeling it was on the Lake side. I've been meaning to look up all the light houses in door co you can visit. It sounds up my alley for sure. Yeah for the kids it's usually outside activities or walking the shops & getting ice cream in fish creek.

I started this on another thread and thought I would continue it here..... i decided to ride my bike 28 miles on Sunday and got caught in the violent storm that hit Chicago on Sunday. I kept taking shelter as I rode my bike home with stops at the North Ave chess pavilion, the golf course club house at Addison, a shelter at Montrose where I met an interesting possibly homeless person, and the Foster ave beach where I got stuck under a shelter with a bunch of life guards and volleyball people. I never saw the sky that dark before. It was pitch black in the distance and really scary. Fortunately I was able to get to the last shelter before the worst part hit. Here are some pics from my adventure!
