HI Barb. Thank you. Yes it's the garage. It's an old Chicago style red brick garage. When we bought the property my wife asked if we should just tear it down because it was in such bad condition! Well after demoing the interior drywall and plywood, pressure washing and tuckpointing the brick inside and out, new electric including led recessed lighting and 200 amp service for this and our basement, alarm system, new insulated garage doors and man door, new granulated bituminous rubber roof and rebuild the parapet walls, new Kynar black steel gutters, new Jeld Wen black low e double hung clad windows and new glass block on the sides, fixing the cement floor, new drywall ceiling.... it is in pretty decent shape now! It's a three car garage with high ceilings. This is where I'm going to be someday if my wife ever kicks me out! I have my bicycle there, my pond nearby, and I can plug in a beer frig and be perfectly happy! It did have gas and water at one point, but we didn't reinstall them when we did the rehab. I thought about adding a green roof to either it or our main building lately, but researched the cost and found it to be very expensive.
So essentially you did tear it down and rebuild lol everything looks amazing!

Keith, I wish you were my neighbor who invited us to visit and enjoy your pond once in awhile, sitting at that table. It is really a place of beauty! Is the red brick building a garage? I had thought it was your house until I see the other pics you showed us. Very well done!
Barb

Barb, You are more than welcome to visit us if you ever visit Chicago! We have had other GPF people visit before and it is always fun to meet in person. We don't hang out at the table so much because we have a nice deck above it. That's where I'm sitting right now. it's a beautiful evening in Chicago and I have not received even one mosquito bite tonight!

Lisa. Thanks. I'm in construction so it's not that big of a deal. The investment we put into it was probably a third of what it would have cost new so it made sense to do it. The garage is probably one of my favorite things about our property!

Thanks Nathan. if anything looks good I would have to say honestly it's because of my wife. I like to just do things and get them done but she really analyzes everything and spends a lot of time thinking about everything. At our last house she didn't care that much about the pond other than I didn't build a monstrosity. Here she has been involved where every single rock and plant goes. Oh and by the way I think it was your initial suggestion how we lay out the sitting area with the walkway between it and the pond and we decided to go in that direction so thank you for that idea!

Wow! Everything looks amazing, great job!
I have a pear tree that we planted when we bought the house 18yrs ago, it never bloomed more than 3 flowers x year and the fruits are small and deformed...I'm jealous:D

Thanks Gemma. We have a lot of pollinators around the pond. I read that some pear trees need them and also both a male and female tree fairly close so maybe that is the answer? We don't know a lot about pear trees and have been learning about them.
I bet your neighbors are enjoying the view too!
Thanks Cas. I think so. One neighbor of ours initially wanted a fence between our yards and we had talked about splitting the cost. We recently set a time to get together for a cocktail one evening and I was sure they were going to ask about it and the subject never even came up!
Your neighbors must envy your pretty yard and the short time it took to get everything done .I know you think it took alot longer but in time it was really a short time for all you accomplished
Thanks Sissy and a lot of money too! My wife put the breaks on buying more plants and shrubs last month and when we added everything up even though I did a lot of the labor myself it still was quite a bit!
We just came back from Door County, WI. I took this picture from Little Sister Bay of the sunset. When I was going through my pictures I really liked this one because of the children you can see playing on the dock.

Beautiful peaceful looking scene!
JW. Looks can be very deceiving. if you would turn the camera around you would have seen about 100 people sitting at tables eating salads, and chicken and fish sandwiches! It's one of my favorite places in Door County and about anywhere to sit and relax and drink my favorite beverage while enjoying the scenery.
That is a pretty picture
Thanks Tara. I really liked it because of the children playing. I didn't even see them when I took the picture and they weren't in any of the other shots I took so they were there just a short time.

I had a pear tree like that for 15 years then realized one year the tree was blooming and now they are even getting large. The key is you need two trees hence a pair ! A house a few doors down planted a pear tree and boom.

Door County is a favorite spot of ours - I grew up near Green Bay, so we spent a lot of time there in the summer. We try to get up there now at least once a year - such a pretty place. You captured it perfectly!
