@GBBUDD, do you have this information? What hospitals specifically? Are you saying the approx. 160,000 deaths are a falsity? Based on what facts exactly are you using to confirm?

“i wish we could say this is as serious as we are left to believe.” Really? This does not seem like something that I would see from you? I understand not trusting politicians but do you really think all the health workers are making this up? I know one physician who used to work in Boston who recently had taken time off due to the workload she went through at MGH as she was had been working straight through since March. She saw some pretty bad stuff along the way.

Every life is indeed precious. But we don’t make government policy decisions based on “if we can save even one life”. If we did, we’d be listening to Dr Redfield from the CDC who is concerned that we have now lost more teens to suicide and drug overdose than we have to Covid as a result of the lockdowns.

What we should be discussing in earnest is excess deaths. That would answer a whole lot of questions about the numbers.

Dr Fauci told us why he originally said masks were no help - we couldn't be trusted not to hoard. Like we're small children who need to be controlled through manipulation.

If that's his reason then I agree with him. There was a shortage of masks then and there is still a shortage today. We are even asking our frontline medical professionals to reuse disposable masks many months later! We can't even trust the powers that be to get ahead of the mask shortage. Are they small children too?

I don't think if Dr. Faucci said " Masks are effective in slowing the spread of the virus, but please don't buy them, as we need them for health care professionals." that anyone wold have listened. I think historically there have been times Americans have't know the full import of situations, because if they did mass panic would ensue.

I think when people get into a mass hysteria, they are childlike.

Kd those are facts google 322 AND 17 deaths it may not be available any more but it happened about a month ago . And a florida hospital is the latest to get fact checked and they admitted to inflating the numbers, about 3 weeks ago that I heard and I have no tv service. Unfortunately the system is set up the more cases the hospitals report the more money they get. Now i understand the elected surgeries being put on hold have put a financial strain on hospitals. But is has everyone , and if they have more they get more money, "the typical" . Not once have i said this covid was not serious. I have said time and again it's no picknick to those who get hit hard. They say it the worst they have ever been . While others didn't even know they had been infected. Media and polital personal keep telling us do this do that and then they are seen not practicing what they preach. I for one am past the point that life if full of Wonderful events , memorable times and on an amazing planet we all call home. But it is far from always being safe it is full or RISKS REWARDS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS. Yea no one wants to loose a loved one but if this goes on much longer we will all lose loved ones from long drawn out issues of depression suicides and even starvation. I don't know about kennebunk of late but being upper middle class im not sure if your seeing the rise in homeless. i am traveling from CT to VA right now I have seen a good deal of closed businesses and whats worse is more people that are homeless and not the kids looking for free hand outs. The evictions freeze by the feds has ended just recently we are starting to see the aftermath. It can not keep going.

I learned very quickly, and let it be known it took 53 years, that right now no one else is looking out for me but me. I’ve been at work as an essential employee and while my employer gave lip service to being safe there was absolutely no attempt to make it safe for us. Now they are supplying masks and hand sanitizer but just like the rest of the country they couldn’t get them for a long time. My job doesn’t support teleworking but I do it all the time while being on-call. Plenty of training and emails.

Look at toilet paper PANIC

I saw one woman grabing 20 boxes of gloves at the depot "IN THE BEGINNING" ,i was less then pleased untill i saw she had a hospital id badge.

I wish we would put a serious effort in squashing this. AND LOOK AT THE MAJOR COMMON PLACES WE ALL TOUCH EVERY DAY.

1. We have the ability to do a cashless society the 20 and 30 year olds use the phone to buy and pay for everything. get rid of the card swipe and the put in your pin. Do it on your phone and have the teller scan a code for payment. or simply say thank you payment received even burger king has this now WITH THE APP. Get all businesses to adopt this. do a pay latter feature for the businesses to get these functions running
2. The gas station one person at the pump FULL SERVICE. you grab the pump finish pumping your gas sit in your car have the coffee and donuts with your hand that just held the gas pump or card swipe .
3. GOGGLES / glasses Those are as important if not more so.
4. If we are going to do this lets do it , and not do this part but not that part.
5. i should add automatic door openers on bushiness as mandatory

When we all use the same pieces of equipment masks mean nothing.

We live by a very ”busy” commercial district and despite all the early optimism by businesses that they would pull through I’m seeing some serious problems. The AT&T store closed after their windows got broken and it’s now empty. The ice cream store that normally has a line out ther door just had me and one other person. The person working there said they tried opening on a Monday to get some extra business because it was so slow but the rain hurt them. I’m friends with one of the bartenders at a normally busy tavern down the block from us and he texted me out of the blue and when I asked how things were going he said it was slow. I’m trying to get him a job helping us with demo at a construction site. Even the place I got pizza from seemed kinda depressed. Normally they give 10% off and they weren’t offering that special. Now I feel bad for asking for it. These are places I never thought would ever have problems....

How would you expect businesses to survive @CometKeith ? Combine the government locking people down with the constant stream of panic porn that the media pushes on us daily and people either can't support your business or are too scared to leave their house. We ate out twice last week - both times we were one of two parties in the entire restaurant. These are places that normally we would have either had to wait an hour or make a reservation the day ahead. It was like a wake... saying goodbye to places we will probably never be able to go to again.

If people would just look at the facts, maybe more would start to question what's really happening. Here's a simple one - the average age of someone who died of Covid is 80 years old. AVERAGE. That means more than half were OVER the age of 80. Again - every death is sad, but let's be realistic. 80 year old people aren't the ones who need to go to work or go to school. Kids, teens, those of us still working are more likely to die in a car accident on the way to work than we are to die of Covid. 7500 people die every single DAY in this country of something - why don't we start reporting on all of those deaths and really get the hysteria ramped up.

If Americans are so selfish and greedy and whatever else everyone claims we are and the rest of the world is doing so much better than us with this pandemic, then someone explain the protests that are starting in other countries.

And someone please explain why the mayor of Washington D.C. puts a quarantine order on the city but exempts anyone who traveled to Georgia for the funeral of John Lewis? Or how about explain how John Lewis' family can have a funeral with hundreds in attendance, but my husband could not attend his uncle's funeral last week? Explain why Dr Fauci refuses to answer any question about the effect that protestors, rioter, and looters had on the spread of the pandemic, while also claiming the US didn't lock down "hard enough". While he's throwing out the first pitch and enjoying a nice night at the ballpark. Great optics there doc.

Exercise regularly, eat healthy; basically just saying healthy.

I don't think you understand the immune system. Yes, being healthy in general is important, but you develop an immune system by challenging your immune system. Coming in contact with a pathogen stimulates and immune response which, in a person with normal immune function, creates antibodies. The next time you come in contact with that same pathogen your body recognizes it and is able to respond quickly before you get sick.

Around here most schools are preparing to start up. Some districts are starting the year virtually for the first few weeks. Parents have an option to select virtual learning, but most people I know are sending their kids to school for in person learning.

The pre-school I retired from is opening up, as well as other area pre-schools. These are young children who are exempt from the mask requirements , staff however must wear them.

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds as schools shut down so quickly last Spring. I am really hoping everything goes smoothly.

Here's an article from Harvard on immune system boosting. I'd give it a read. https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/how-to-boost-your-immune-system
