For those who don't get any exercise adding a walk to your day will improve your fight against it no question. Most older Americans would struggle to Walk a mile . But if you walk what ever is comfortable for you each day before you now it you'll put some health on your late and distance under our feet

I can avoid, I'm retired. But hubby is still working. So, he's in contact with people at his work. They haven't done the mandatory mask wearing. They really don't work close together. When he gets home, he goes straight to the shower. He does all the grocery shopping. We both got horribly sick right after Christmas. Felt like I was coughing up my lungs. I've had bronchitis and the flu before, so my lungs aren't the best. I do see my grand kids now. Everyone is pretty much over not seeing each other. But, I do feel so good when I get in my naked Jeep and just drive. Breathing the fresh air.

There are no guarantees with anything in life, but without a doubt the healthier you are the better chance you have of not being severely affected by any virus/injury/infection not just COVID. I don’t quite get individuals strong reaction to others that have a differing view point. Whether I disagree or agree with someones view point they are entitled to it, others opinions don’t really aggravate me. Wearing a mask when in close proximity in stores, crowded areas etc. ....meh, no issue with it right or wrong. I will wear one because it’s just not that big a deal to me, and if it makes others more comfortable....am I going to be pissed about someone next to me not wearing one...nope...am I going to be careful(More so for my parents and older higher risk family members) .....yep....but am going to live my life. If I have an underlying health condition I don’t know about that gets me killed by this virus, living my life how I see fit then so be it.

I don’t want or need the govt’s help on anything....What aggravates me Like @Lisak1 mentioned is the govt thinking they know what’s best for me, overstepping their boundaries, and trying to shove their ideals on anything not just COVID down my throat. Most of our politicians ( on both sides) have hidden agendas for why they push certain mandates/try to change laws etc. and to think they don’t is naive. Govt rarely has the public’s best interest at heart unless it serves their own purposes.

Although it's against the law here not to wear one, I would wear one anyway. As you said, those that are healthy and young are pretty much fine if they get it (although being sick sucks), they will still transfer it to others who will then transfer it to others and so on. It will eventually reach a sick elder person or someone with a poor immune system. For the sake of myself and others, I don't see why we shouldn't wear them.

One thing I have done wrt my immune system is to reduce consumption of PUFA(polyunsaturated Fatty Acids). These can contribute to the inflammation in the immune system. These became prevalent with the saturated fat scares. They are common in many health foods and include safflower and sunflower oil. Research *the hateful eight*. Eliminating these oils from your body's fat storage can take years.

Are you serious? That is ridiculous. My hubby doesn't wear a mask when he rides his. In my Jeep, I am well past 6 feet from anyone.

That is crazy, I figured you remind me of myself a big guy that looks a little rough on the outside. Most people think twice about confronting me as I am pretty rough/intimidating looking during the work week or at least that is what my wife tells me.

The ignorance of many people in this country is truly appalling, like the Michigan inn that took down their Norwegian flag because some thought it looked like the Confederate battle emblem, and where sending them nasty emails and phone calls. Looks nothing like it to me.....but what do I know.

really not desirable if it were even possible

First of all, it absolutely IS possible to improve your immune system. The article you shared is talking about increasing your immune response - not the same thing. You don't want an overly responsive immune system. A healthy immune system that responds appropriately to immunity challenges is the goal. From the article you shared:

"The best thing you can do to maintain your immune system is to adopt healthy living strategies that will benefit the entire body, including your immune system. These strategies might include:

  • eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables
  • exercising regularly
  • maintaining a healthy weight
  • quitting smoking
  • drinking alcohol only in moderation
  • getting enough sleep
  • avoiding infection through regular hand washing
  • reducing stress"

I don't know why you'd say it's not desirable to improve your immune system, unless you're misunderstanding what a cytokine storm is. That's the over reaction from the immune system that they believe is what makes some people so seriously ill with Covid. That's actually a classic sign of a WEAKENED immune system - cancer patients and others with autoimmune diseases are highly susceptible to a cytokine storm. You can also have a cytokine reaction from the flu, strep, Epstein Barr, etc. Being overweight or diabetic can also make you susceptible. The people who survive Covid with organ damage have had a cytokine storm reaction. Your immune system goes haywire and attacks your organs.

Reducing inflammation is something that you are hearing more and more about in the heath field. Most illnesses and diseases lead to inflammatory conditions in the body. Reduce the inflammation and you'll improve your health significantly.

@reefsr - to my knowledge there are still no states, cities, counties, etc that have LAWS that require face masks. That requires the legislature to write a bill that gets voted on and passed. Lots of mandates have been issued, but no laws.

It is, but catching the virus itself will not help. That's a misconception people keep getting: catching the virus will help your immune system if you can fight it off.

Careful bud I am the big bad wolf here don't add your self to the list . i am 6-2" about 240 and it often amazes me when people decide to open there mouths and push others or at least try. I had planed to go to dc and see for myself one of the cites that has had riots and issues to see the mall and i don't know why i want to go because if i was to find spray paint or damage to the wall to the Lincoln memorial i would simply loose it. But i latter found out all the mall has been removed of it's statues what is going on why in no one irate about this .

What we all hope is like any other disease once you get it IF you beat it you have a heightened number of antibodies / white blood cells what ever it may be that in turn keeps you from contracting it again and again in the near future . how long near future is is the MAJOR question. and speaking as someone with over active immune system. Its not all about he lungs for some it may be for others its bone and others skin there is no it's this

Really? How exactly do you develop immunity then?
