ohh boy this thread is getting to me ... I was pulling meat from the freezer for dinner tonight, thought of this thread, and it's gonna be another unhealthy meal again, but ohhhh so yummy LOL ...

Tonight is meatloaf (tomato base with bacon on top), mashed potatoes and corn ...

Last night was a lean, pork loin roast, red potatoes (with butter and sour cream) and almost fresh spinach (read that to mean the store had a big sale on fresh spinach, which I blanched and froze) ...

Thinking I should pull some "winter stew" from the freezer for tomorrow ... just a tad bit of sausage for flavor, but otherwise, lentles, cabbage, yams, toms ... maybe throw a salad and some rolls with it ...

Now I am hungry LOL...

Waiting for people to discuss some healthy foods LOL.

heres my recipe for a meatloaf for 2 people...1/2lb ground beef, 1/2lb turkey breakfast sausage (jenny o) 1 egg, 1/3 cup apple sauce, a couple splashes of teriyaki, and of course panko (bread crumbs) added til you get the consistancy you like. and optional 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. top with BBQ sauce when fully cooked and lightly browned. broil with BBq sauce for a couple minutes til sauce thickens.... the occasional indulgence is permitted...

Both sound really good ... mine is a bit more old fashion ... 2 lbs ground beef (90% is what I pulled from the freezer, so will need to add a bit of oil to it), a couple of handfuls of stuffing mix, 2 eggs, a little bit of minced onions, bell pepper and garlic, and not quite half a can of tomato sauce ... form loaf ... pour rest of tom sauce over, and top with 1 lb bacon.

Meatloaf sounds good and I should make some tonight for supper, will serve with mashed potatoes and gravy, baby peas, and maybe I will even make a fresh apple crumble, with fresh sliced organic apples, oatmeal, butter, roasted Saigon cinnamon, and served hot and topped with fresh whiped cream with organic vanilla power.

hey colleen... i thought about what you said as i was putting my cream, and stevia in my coffee, and added a tsp of coconut oil. to my suprise it didnt just float on top in little droplets. it seems to stir in pretty well. i think a little vanilla extract would compliment it well. in fact i'm gonna try it. now i have to go brew a pot, damn it!!
i wouldnt have thought to try it in coffee.

details of your crumble recipe please!!! I cant find my old handwritten cookbook (by old, I mean my mother copied my grandmothers recipes into a composition book when she was 16) and need a proven crumb topping!

Not the same by any means, but I aquired two cans of "apple pie filling" when my daughter moved back in last week. She heats it up and puts it over icecream, but is now on a diet LOL ... anyways, you mentioning apple crumble made me think of these two ugly CANS I want to get out of my pantry LOL. A crumb topping is so basic, but I cant remember the quanities LOL.

I just keep it very basic, don't add wheat or much sugar, but I do top with crushed peacans and lightly sprinked brown sugar. I don't really have a recipe, just use some apples, big fat spoon of real butter, sprinkle some oatmeal, lots of cinnamon and little sugar. I just thrown it all in a glass dish and bake at 375 for 35 minutes or so. Sometimes I make a bumble crumble and that is with apples, raspberrys and blueberrys, same stuff, oatmeal, butter, crushed nuts and brown sugar. I don't measure, just eyeball it and in the oven it goes... :)

years ago, I used to use it so often, I would just store the dry ingredients together in a tuperware container... never tried it with pecans ... gonna have to try that ... love pecans .. always have a can of honey roasted pecans on hand ... so hard to stay out of them, but at $6 per 3 oz can, I save them for baking

FRENCH PRESIDENT'S CAMEL MADE INTO STEW
A camel presented to the French president as a gift has been killed and made into a stew.

The baby camel was given as a present to Francois Hollande in February by the government of Mali, a former French West African colony. The animal was a token of gratitude for the French military helping fight Islamic terrorists.

Mr Hollande initially intended to have the camel vaccinated and transferred to a French zoo, according to The Telegraph. But the complexity of the move coupled with "the rigours of the harsh French climate for a desert animal," led to the decision to leave the camel in the care of a family in Timbuktu.

Unfortunately the family killed and ate it. Apparently camel meat is very tender.

( sucks to be a baby camel in Timbukyu expression )

i dont use actual measuring cups and such very often either. mostly by eye and taste. adjusting as needed. another tastey treat, & easy to make... just core apples, pack the core hole with butter, cinnamon, brown sugar. ( i use stevia with just a pinch of brown sugar) wrap them in foil 3/4 of the way up. bake at 375 til the apples start to soften.
