Is that a second frog in the picture as well?

What are you using for plant rings? I'm sure you've told me, but remind me again.

I think that is just a reflection. Only one frog but I want more :)

I just used black pvc type tubing and attached fiberglass screen door material to the bottom. It didn't get good circulation tho so cut some round holes in it. Then I added my spitting turtle to add some circulation. Have only Hornwort floating under the water right now.

Had Azolla in it at one time.

I really like the idea of the frog spitter adding circulation to the area, JW. I have my screen net rings stored in the shed, if/when I need them again.
I've seen a few tiny frogs, the "peeper" variety. I was pulling some cattails last night, and one jumped into the bog next to me and went under water. I just know it was small, less than an inch. Saw a dead frog in koi pond this evening, then forgot to net him out. Will get that done in the a.m.

Here's a little peeper frog. I found him in my window well that floods when I get a lot of rain. Was scooping out the water, and spotted him, so rescued him and put him near the koi pond. He's less than an inch long.

Didn't see my frog all day so I figured it moved on... then I was taking the top layer of flagstone off the border of my pond today to prepare for my project, and found it hiding under a rock. Good thing was being careful or I could've hurt it. It kind of picked a bad time to move in considering I'm going to be ripping the pond out and putting a new one in.

Nepen, if you had one frog come from the wild last year, my guess is you had more, you just never noticed them. OR, there will be more this year. Be patient and wait for them to show up. Sometimes when people don't want frogs, they come. Since you want them, you will just have to be more patient. Don't buy tadpoles, if anything find them local in creeks and ponds. When I was a kid, I loved catching tiny tadpoles in creeks. Beware, though, some of the teeny tiny black ones are toads, which are also very good to have around your pond. Wish you lived closer, I'd net a bunch of the bullfrog tadpoles in my farm pond for you. :)

thanks CountryEscape. I'm pretty broke right now so I have to stop all my craze buying anyway so it's a good thing actually or i'll be buying more and more stuff off ebay eventhough I dont need them.

I'm being patient right now to get more frog to come or get some tads from my neighbor :) thanks for your nice words, you are so right that it's better to get it from creeks and ponds from around here so I know it's local and not the invasive species (like the Cuban tree frog tads I got last time)

The frog might've been ok if it stay in the big pond. I'm hoping we have more frog this year, or better yet, have tadpoles...

Sorry to hear.
I never expected to have any frogs last year and 4 showed up and stuck around, though it did take a couple months for one to show up. Sadly they didn't make it, but I already have one hanging around this year... Like CE said, you could also head out to vernal ponds and collect tadpoles yourself, though I don't know your laws, you might need a permit.

I live in a city, even though a small city, so I didnt expect to even have frog coming by itself.. Very happy that it did (and a big one at that) so I'm hoping more will come and that'll make me feel better about the nature in the city (seen big trees cut down everwhere to make new buildings and it's very sad to me)

Got closer to my frog today, it seems to be a bit more comfortable with me around. It was just relaxing, sleeping on the rock. Every once in a while it would reposition itself and then sleep again. Must be loving day's 62 degrees! I'm interested to see if it'll hang around through construction or head somewhere else.

Give him a nice place to stay during the construction, JB. Something as simple as a bucket in the ground to hold water, and plants next to it for shade, maybe one of your flat rocks for him to sun himself .... Either way, I bet he's back when your rebuild is done. It doesn't take very long to dig and water to be present again anyhow. You'll be anxious for it to get done sooner rather than later. Do you have fish in your existing pond? If so, what do you plan to do with them during the rebuild?

Yes, I'm trying to keep my stream partially in until the pond is done. I'm hoping I can have the hole dug and liner/water in in one or two days at the most. My fish stay in the basement during winter and they haven't been put back out yet. They'll be happy when they see their new home (as will I) :D

Neat I was wondering about your fish, (can't remember what everybody does lol) You will make a great pond and your froggie will stick around, mine sure did. I had to chase them out from under the liner so they would not get crushed.

Oh heck, if you're only talking a few days, he will be there when you are done, I'm sure! And, if you're really lucky, he will start croaking or chirping or whatever sound he makes and call in some more friends! Soon it will be warm enough for you JB and the breeding season will be upon you. It hasn't begun here yet, still too chilly at night, I think. But, soon, very soon ...
