I have tons of tadpoles myself!! (posted this elsewhere oops) My pond here in Southern NJ froze over solid and for weeks, the tadpoles made it through the whole winter. I have dozens of them and had no clue they could or would make it through a brutal winter like that. Will these guys mature or just stay as tardies??

The bull frog and the green frog both over winter as tads. They can morph the same year, but usually morph the second year. I have tons from last summer, well not tons, but quite a few.

Reproduction
Males set up territories in shallow water of lakes, ponds, ditches or streams. Females lay up to 3,000 to 4,000 eggs in May through July. Eggs hatch in three to seven days. Tadpoles are green with black dots. Most of the young overwinter as tadpoles, then develop into frogs the next summer. Maturity is reached in two years after transformation.

Well if you weigh them it would be pounds, if you count them it would be 100 or so in the various ponds, I see them everywhere.

Now no frog or frog egg yet in my pond :( so sad, especially when I had high hope that my late residence frog will lay egg in my pond but she's dead so now my hopes all gone.

Thanks j.w. Last year I think I spent like $60 for tadpoles from ebay that turned to be fish food or invasive species that I had to feed them to my fish. The most expensive treat ever. So when I saw the frog came to my pond by itself I was so happy and thought I didn't have to spend money on tadpoles this year but darn, the last freeze probably what killed the frog. At least I might be able to get tadpoles from my co worker or neighbor this year if I don't end up with some in my pond!

Went outside and found a new Green Frog at my pond! There's still snow on the ground in some areas so it sure wasted no time coming out of hibernation and travelling to my pond!

First frog of the new season yay!
He had to choose the swampy spot right next to the plant ring for his hideout of course :)
