My beautiful leopard frog disappeared (he came to my canal/aqueduct) on his or her own. So I was griefstricken sort of, wondering if the stray neighborhood cats who live in the sewer got him/her.
Then the other day, to my amazement, I found the frog in the front of the house amidst some sesame leaf plants (my wife is Korean). So you can imagine how overjoyed I was, since we don't keep fish.
I'd always thought frogs stay near water and only migrate during rainy periods. So what was this leopard frog thinking to be so far from the backyard water! Obviously insects, but I'd have thought it would need to be very close to water so as its skin doesn't dry out (toads can travel a long ways from water).
So it's hard to get inside the frog's head. Hopefully, it returns and finds my backyard hospitable! I just don't want it crossing the road, as I always see flat frogs in the road, thanks to drivers texting or not caring at all about a poor froggy.
