Beautiful CE, my Jenny doesn't get that full cause it's it's in the shade primarily. It's the only thing that grows in the bed under my weeping cherry tree. In the spring the color comb is really pretty. CE I see in that third pic, that purple clover plant, this is the first year for mine, and it really did well next to the pond. It blumed all summer! Very pretty!

Fishy, the purple plant is called Oxalis, shamrock plant. I had intended to bring the one I planted last year inside, they are not supposed to be perennial in my locations; however, it came back. The one in the pic is one I bought this year. I'm hoping it will come back next year, too. The one that came back did so pretty late, and is not very large, but it got crowded out by the Creeping Jenny, so that may have something to do with it. Behind the oxalis is a HUGE tomato plant that came up volunteer from a seed someone dropped or a bird. It's a cherry tomato, but it, like my other tomato plants, is making tons of tomatoes, but none are ripe, darn it. I have not picked on decent ripe tomato from my 8 plants in the garden. I'm ready to give up on my vegetable garden, but I sure enjoy the peppers and ripe tomatoes, just not this year for the maters!

I wish my creeping Jenny would spread out like that. Didn't do too good in the pond and the plants we bought last year I don't think came back this year. Will be planning for next spring tho as for my next plan with the pond.

Mine is growing like a weed, I have had to yank it out of the stream more than once this year so it won't block the flow. It is in full sun.

Brandon, I do have some creeping jenny that has spilled over into the pond, but it's not planted in the pond, it's planted in the dirt next to the pond! If you had yours actually rooted in your pond, that may be why it didn't do as well. I think Addy would have the correct terminology for the location, but I suspect it needs to have dryer roots. I would be happy to send you some in the spring if you want to try it again. I'm trying to think of more places to put it around here, since it stays pretty low to the ground, it would do really well under tall plants for sure. And, JW is correct, you only have to yank it out when it gets in the wrong spot. Also, JW, I'm sure you were the one that told me to cut off the sedum mid-June to keep it from getting so leggy. That really did work. Next year, I may cut most of the white (it's far "floppier" than the rose colored tall sedum) back and let a stalk or two get tall and see the difference in the flower.
Addy, I spotted some really deep red low growing sedum in one of your recent pics next to your lotus tub and preforms, that was gorgeous! I'll have to watch for some of that next year. I have a low growing yellow, but totally different type of flower, and it blooms in the spring, not the fall or late summer.

Is the picture in my thread? I will see what plant you are talking about, see if I can send you some.

Well, Addy, I'm not sure. I follow quite a few threads. I think it is in the bog building thread, you have it in the same pic with the lotus tub, and the preforms. I'm pretty sure that's where it is. It's on the right hand side of the pic, if I recall. :) Yep, it's on the last page of bog building thread.

CE, great shots of your plants. It looks like some of the new ones really took off. Do you water a lot? I know we had a really hot summer and I was always watering myself sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I had some creeping jenny too and have no idea what happened to it. I'll have to look for it. I liked your picture of the peppers too. Did you grow them yourself?

That is yarrow, CE I thought that was what you had seen, but wanted to make sure. One of my fifty cent plants, comes back every year. I have multiple colors.

Oh, Addy, I have seen dwarf yarrow like that and totally forgot about that! I will be on the look out for that next year. Thanks for letting me know! My sister has some really tall yarrow, and it's always falling over. I guess it would do well around other strong tall plants or medium height, too.
Yes, Comet, I grew the peppers. They ended up being the ONLY thing that grew in my garden this year. Tiller didn't run (until later summer) so only planted tomato and pepper plants. Tomato plants grew and grew, have tons of large green tomatoes on them right now, but not a one of them has turned red all summer! I probably didn't water them enough when they needed it. If you want any Creeping Jenny in the spring, just give me a shout. I just sent a bunch of it to another ponder from here today! I have a ton more to thin out, but I think it may get pretty cool in the next week, may not be a good time to get it started well in the ground.
As far as my landscaping and flowers, I watered them weekly stuff that was "in the ground", but potted plants hanging or on the deck got watered every morning during the heat wave and drought. I'm glad I have a well, as it was no pressure to water or not to water for the cost. My grass was totally dead during the drought, but it sure came back and is green as can be now. Going to get cold this weekend here, though, close to freezing at night. I'm heading to Shawnee to camp/horseback ride, so will take warm clothes and there will be lots of sitting around camp fires.

I caught 2 goldfish out of the koi pond last night. I think they were somewhat chilly, moving slower. Maybe I'll get the others caught yet, one every now and then. Still have at least 6 or 8 in there, probably more little ones I've not even seen yet.
There's an adorable baby in the goldfish pond. Wish I could get a pic of it, but pics don't do it justice anyhow. Very small, actually there are 3 little ones, but this one is mostly white, with a little bit of red on the tail and maybe on the side of the face, and then a tiny black spot on it, too. It's belly has red on the underside, too, but just a little. I guess cause it's so little, maybe 1.5" long at most, I've watched it daily as it comes out every time I'm by the pond, and I've become attached to the little bugger. :)

Yep, I realize that, JW. I mention it because it looks different at this point. Usually by the time I spot them, they are bigger, and this time I've spotted 3 that are under 2", which is unusual. I guess I've found babies before when I looked closely by the lilies, too. And, more often then not, the goldfish/shubunkin babies are more orange/red than white, so this one being more white is fun. I till have one that is orange with black tail and top fin. I know it will eventually change to all orange, but it has stayed this coloring for 2 months. Next year it will likely finish changing.
Wishing I could spot the solid black fantail again. That's the one that I'm finding out is very unusual. I would never buy a moor, don't like the buggy out eyes, and remember buying this one and it was a bronze color, so I wondered what color it would change to. Several days later, I was in the pond grooming lilies, and spotted a solid black fantail. It has to be the little bronze one. I've not seen it since, but am confident it's in there somewhere hiding, as the other little fantails tend to do. Still see the tiny orange and white one, though, and the bigger ones come out at feeding time.
Oh, and I guess I waited too long to locate my albino pleco to move back inside. The water temps got down to below 55 last weekend, and I found him Monday dad on the bottom. Darn! It had doubled in size from when I put it in there earlier this past spring, but still was only 4" long. Must have been a more dwarf variety. Oh well, live and learn. No more plecos going into the ponds. Thinking I'll get an albino catfish from Sheetmetalman who lives just west of me. I've wanted to go see his pond and patios in person anyhow! At least the albino cat will be hardy, and white, so easy to see on the bottom.

Sorry CE about your Pleco. I'm still thinking on getting some of those cute wiggly butted fantails and maybe next Spring I'll give them a try. You are getting some nice varieties in your pond it sounds like w/ all the different colors. Bet you'll have even more interesting ones as the breeding goes on. Like in addy's pond she has so many different ones and so pretty!
