Yep, JW, if I didn't know any better, I'd have to agree with you! I have NEVER been around a calmer horse. I've had a lot of horses in my life, too, and the two mares I have are nothing like him. He is definitely a keeper. Going on a 4-5 hour ride today, taking one mare with neighbor girl riding her, and picking up another girlfriend from the neighborhood and her horse, so should be a fun time!
Oh, and here is the video of Yukon "woofing" for me. He gets shy when I point the camera at him, but finally got him to do it for me several times. Enjoy.

Have lots of fun on Clyde and wish I was there to go w/ you. I haven't been on a horse in years.
That was cute of Yukon woofing and it made me laugh. He has turned into such a nice dog for you. I love how he found you and is so happy now :D

Yes, Yukon is much loved and as spoiled as any of my animals. Denali is almost always on this "bed" when she's in the house, but usually she shares it with either Yukon or Smokey.

Isn't it sweet how Smokey has his leg over her, like he's protecting or hugging her while they sleep? :)
JW, if you ever want to take a "riding" vacation, head east and come for a visit! I have room for company, and right now 3 horses. We could take hubby along as well. :) We had a super day for riding today. Another neighbor went, and her horse had not been ridden but once all year. She was pretty worried, but all turned out very well. Horses and people enjoyed the time out in the woods. Fall colors starting to show up, and temps in the 70's and sunshine... can't beat that!

Well ya never know CE we may just do that someday. Thanks for the invite. I don't think my DH has ever been on a horse. Could be quite entertaining to say the least. Those pix are so cute of the dogs all cuddled up together. I like the last one w/ Smokey's head on Denali's back :)

OK, JW, we'll see if you make it east someday! :)
Yeah, Smokey and Denali are buddies at rest, but usually during the day, Smokey and Yukon are checking out for wild creatures. They make sure possums and raccoons don't come to my place, which is a good thing. I know Yukon had a possum in his mouth this past weekend, I'm pretty sure it was still alive, and it was gone later, but he may have gone and moved it. Had him inside for an hour or so, that should have been enough time for it to get going out of the area!
Denali is almost always on the cushy bed, and she shares it with whichever of the boys gets on it with her first. If you notice in the first pic with her and Yukon, Smokey is in the background on the afghan. It has holes in it, so it's now used for the dogs to lay on. Yep, they are spoiled, usually come inside morning and evening, and when it gets cold, not sure what I'm going to do with Denali, since she is due to have puppies about the 12th of November. I will likely put a heat lamp in the dog shed for her and puppies, as if I let her have them inside, it will be impossible to acclimate them to the outdoors when I would want to, when they get to be about 4 weeks old and making more noise and smell than I want in my house. LOL We shall see, though. May break down and let them stay inside in the whelping box.

How cold is it there in November CE.? We don't get too cold here at that time but I'm thinking you guys get much colder? Guess you'll just have to play it by ear. Does Denali usually stay in the house w/ you or does she sleep out in the barn? If she's a house dog then she's gonna be mad at you for sticking her outside w/ the pups. You'll figure it out. Dogs can take the weather pretty good unless its really cold I would think.

Well, November is usually not that cold. Days maybe in the 50's and nights in the 30's. She is an outside dog, but when it's really hot, I bring her inside in the AC in the summer. When it's really cold, I keep her inside in the winter. It's probably not so good to go back and forth, but she does just fine. Lots of people think the short haired dogs cannot survive in the winter, but they do just fine, as long as they have warm bedding (straw, etc.) and/or a companion to snuggle up with. All the dogs are laying in a big pile of loose hay lately as that's like laying in a big fluffy blanket. Long as they don't go potty on it, the horses don't mind either. :)
Probably will have her inside with the pups. I don't have any plans to be out of town from mid November until Jan. 5, and last time she did really well with staying in the crate with the pups all day. Only major problem will be when I go on the cruise with my family in first week of January, and she will need to be outside then, so I have to think of Denali in that respect.

My little girl goes to the neighbors, where she moves in, into their home and hearts when we can't take her with us. They take great care of her.

Here are some pics of the Creeping Jenny I got from JW last year, and how it has spread soooo well! Thank you so much, JW!!! Can't wait to see the blooms next year. :)
I have it between the deck and pond ...

and around plants by the deck.

Here is the difference between my rose colored sedum that I did not pinch back, but is stronger at standing up than most, compared to the white that I pinched back (maybe pinched back a little later than I should have?) so that it would not fall over.

And last night I made up a bunch of stuffed pepper "stuffing" and then put some in the freezer. Aren't they pretty? I grew red and yellow bell peppers, all of which are green but mature to the prettier colors. They were YUMMY!

That creeping jenny is really going bonkers at your place and looks really nice. If it goes where you don't want it to it's pretty easy to pull out if you catch it in time. I only allow mine to grow right around the rocks of the pond and that's it!
Yep I like to do that to my Sedum's also. Cut them halfway down to the ground in mid-June and they come back really nice and strong and stand up straight.
Those peppers look so delicious! Pretty when you use the different colors too.

HBL, if you would like some of the creeping jenny, I'm getting ready to send some to another ponder on here. Or, if you would rather wait until spring and get some after it start growing, I can do that, too. I'm always up for sharing! :)
And, as long as the perennials will come up under the creeping jenny in the spring, I'm ok with it spreading wherever it wants to. I think it dies all the way back, then starts growing again in the spring, so the earlier spring perennials will have a head start on it, so should be fine. If not, I'll pull some of it out to give room for the other plants. I obviously have plenty to share and pull out right now! To think I started out with just a few starts. Kind of like the Karly Rose from Addy ... wow did that stuff grow and spread into big clumps! I have plans for it for next spring ... always have to have plans for changing, adding, reorganizing. LOL Going to make a row of it back by the horse fence in my back yard, kind of hide the fence with the beauty of the grass! But, even doing that, I have a ton of it, and it will grow huge again next year. I'll remind people when I dig it up to separate it in the spring, and then offer some to others again then.
