Ugh, I don’t find possums pretty . They look like rats! They are one of two creatures I don’t mess with, the other being armadillo which can carry leprosy. I’d rescue one, if needed, but not a creature I’d ever consider cute. I’ve stepped out on the porch, saw one and my first thought was “ ugly cat”!

lol hairless tails, not pretty but very efficient at eating ticks.

They get covered with ticks walking through the grass, the woods, then they groom them off. The possum will eat around 4000 ticks in a week. A tick has a 3% or less chance of surviving once it latches onto a possum.
They are immune to botulism, rattlesnake bites, scorpion stings, bee stings.

We have very few ticks here, but I let the possums live and enjoy life in our yard/woods. I see them come out of our back woods and head up to the house and bee hives. I have even started tossing out turkey bones rib bones way in the back field for them to snack on.

My first Bird cylinder came out great!
You can see it still needs to dry out a bit before I can put it outside.
I used a large Nestle container (thoroughly washed with soap and water) as mold, but I had to cut it to get the cylinder out, so I sent hubby to look for a plastic option. Hubby was able to find small buckets in the paint department of Home Depot, they are perfect size and the cylinder I made using that as mold, slides right out. I'm pleased!

Very nice! Your birds will love you! I put up two feeders each holds 20 lbs of seed. I will attempt that when I get around to it. Right now making bee equipment repairs, bee season coming up.

Today I have work, cleaning, and I want to look for the information I need. We're moving to a new house, so I'm thinking about how to decorate it. It's taking up all my thoughts.
Lol, been there, prior to dads heart issues, I was on a post remodel thought like that. This house has so much brown, I want to change it up. But that’s all on pause for now. Pick colors you love, see how the little swatches look in various lights in the house, and go with what you like, rather than what is popular.

Just talked to dads nurse, looks like they will probably keep him all day, unless the tests come back all good ( very doubtful), which won’t be a bad thing, because roads are slick, lots of wrecks, there’s a section of main road closed due to that, and honestly, I hate going out in yucky weather.

Thank you!
The same amount of fruit, nuts and seeds I use to make a cylinder, wouldn't last half a day if it was loose in a regular feeder, that's why I like the cylinders, they last a while

I hope your dad gets better soon!

@Gemma Wow that turned out great! We used to feed the birds but had cats and they just waited under the feeders to grab the birds. So stopped. Now no cats but neighbors fed the birds and rats showed up. We have lots of trees w/seeds and plants in our yard that the birds love to feast on. I still put out some leftover good bird, critter scraps now and then but that's about it for now and I have tons of bird baths and the birds love them! We don't freeze much here so I can keep some of them filled w/water all year long.

So we finally have a decent plan for when dad gets to come home from hospital. They scope him tomorrow by noon. If they find a blockage, they’ll deal with it then, and keep him a full day. If no blockage , I go get him. He doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going to monitor him hard, no heavy lifting till the dr oks it, relax and heal up, then once the dr clears him, it’s time to clean, organize, and purge stuff. We will get the chaos organized! This house is getting cluttered, with tools scattered here and there, forget looking in the tool box, it’s a mishmash of various tools in each drawer . I’ve got pond and aquarium stuff in 3-4 locations, garden stuff in several spots, my art supplies are in two spots, and I don’t even know what half the crap is upstairs! Make that more than half. So, since the weather isn’t cooperating on getting the beams for the ceiling planed, sanded, and cut to length, we are going to work inside until he can go back to work and I get a job. And then, days off, will have at least one small clean/ organize/ purge project each week. If we say that we need to get it done, we start on it, and instead of getting side tracked like we have, we don’t start something new till the current project is done.

Ok, so they fiddle fluffed around, dads just now getting in for his echo, after being no PO since midnight, ( which means no eating or drinking) and they didn’t say boo to him about what was going on, why, till he started getting mad, I was ready to call down and complain that they weren’t giving their patient the information he needed, and treating him like a mindless slab of meat, I was mad. Stress cleaned his bathroom further, fighting hard water issues. So in about an hour, I should know if I’m picking him up tonight , tomorrow, or what. The lack of communication is a big problem for me. Give me a solid excuse if things have changed, I’m good. Don’t give me any info, I get upset.

Hope it is decent news, best to find something that is treatable then say who knows what is wrong.

Pulled more stuff out of the garage, the yard, the shop, the house and tossed! It is so cleansing to have a big thing you can toss whatever you want in, well except paint tires etc. Got rid of a lot of scraps of drywall, left overs from rental work, Hubby loves to save scraps. Gone! Gone broken pieces of wood kept just in case etc etc etc. gone non used pond stuff that adds up, gone old hoses gone broken bee boxes, gone gone gone

Hope they get to the point and give your dad the info he needs so he can get better and fix whatever is wrong.
