CE yep we are near Puget Sound and are you talking about the ferry that goes across the water? Lots of islands across the water from Seattle. We live way up north about 50miles from Seattle towards the Canadian border. You and your family would be welcome to come and if you let me know when you are coming I would even clean my house up for ya,lol!
Looks like we will have dry weather on Monday for the fair.............yippee, but then Tuesday the rain is coming to live here again, maybe forever

Addy, love that you are starving your husband, and love Sissy's comment about the "pond diet"! I sure am on that diet, as I can go literally all day without eating when I'm working outside! Just got back from Menards, got more plants (duh .... can I go in that store just once and NOT buy a plant??? I guess in the winter ...) and they had the underwater lights on sale for less than 1/2 price, so got 4 of them for the waterfall!
It's supposed to be hot today, but tomorrow chance of rain, so need to get new lilies in the ponds and plants planted. Then do whatever rest of the day! Oh, sounds like it will be a rum slush afternoon, too. :0000000057: :glassesy:

I don't have a sidebar, Sissy. I've seen that kind of thing before, though. Maybe Mods already fixed it!
Addy, no wonder he has no belly any longer! You're a great wife cooking meals from scratch. I did that all my married life and loved it, now it's hard to do for just myself. I need a man to cook for! LOL
Rain chased me in this evening about a hour before dark, which was fine. Got the lilies moved around, planted, thinned out, groomed. Then while planting 3 clematis where an old climbing rose was, I saw this! What does it mean for this winter to you? I always heard brown meant mild winter ... could that possibly happen two years in a row? Caterpillars don't lie, do they?!

our 100% chance gave us nothing, still calling for rain, will see. As long as he works I do all the home stuff inside and out. Once he retires we will share.

It is going to be a bit warm today and humid, so it looks like the gravel pile in my driveway will be there another week.

It's cooler this morning, cloudy. Going to be a perfect day to pull weeds, now that the rain soaked the ground properly in my wild flower garden. I figure one more time pulling the grass and it should be good to go for next spring. It's pretty thick, so the wildflowers should crowd out most of the grass. Looks like chance of rain this afternoon through tomorrow at least, but nothing more than 50% chance. I got really lucky yesterday, was a spot shower! Everyone around me said, "Rain? What rain?" so I knew I got one of those chance isolated showers. Woohoo! May even mow again this afternoon, if grass dries up. Mowed on Thurs., but mowed pretty high, then got mower blades sharpened and balanced on Fri., so it should do a good job if I drop the deck down a notch or two. I like to mow high, but then it looks like it needs to be mowed 2 days later. Still won't be mowing it too short, I HATE that! LOL
And, secretly hoping for a shower this afternoon, as my house desperately needs a good cleaning for company coming in 2 weeks! Yikes!!

Said it was supposed to be 83 here today but so far cloudy and cool at 68 degrees so I think it will not make it up to any where near 83 .It almost 11 and we started at 63 at 7 am .

It rained pretty much all day yesterday and most of the night. A nice slow gentle rain. Just what we needed. I can't remember the last time I mowed. Had to of been at least June since I last mowed. Grass is all brown and crunchy.

Wow, Ryan, we were like that up until 2 or 3 weeks ago when we finally got a good 2" rain while I was gone. Had a couple showers since then, too, and the grass greened right back up. I was worried it may not come back so quickly, but give it some moisture an cooler temps (that drought coupled with 95-105 temps fried everything) and it woke right back up.
BTW, I've noticed lots of bushes in people's yards that are brown, likely dead. They are the type that usually is evergreen, maybe boxwood? But some have needles and some have leaves, and they are all brown. Some are tall, maybe cedars, and they are dead and dying. I have cedars on the corners of my house but I don't care if they die. LOL I don't like them, they were here when I bought the place, and I relocated them and now they are all dead but one, and I won't have an odd tree, so it will get relocated next spring. I'll find some place for it.

Ever tho it rained most of Saturday we only got about a inch. 19 more inches and we will be back to normal. The water works plant in dsm is asking the army corp to release more water from the up stream reservoirs. If we don't have a normal winter, we are going to be in some serious trouble next year. Our trees have been doing good. They are older trees and the roots are deep. We have a autum blaze maple that we planted 2 yrs ago and I've been watering that this summer. Between the tree and the pond, those are the only things that have been getting water.
