If I did a video this weekend, it would be solid ice on my ponds, or so it would appear. The stream is running and so is the goldfish bog, and I have a heater that has kept a hole just the side of the heater at the base of the stream. My voice sounds very strange to me right now with this cold. Going to be a busy day tomorrow, maybe I will narrate a video on Sunday! I loved hearing Sissy's voice. It was very cute how you did that, especially since I know you did it to let your great nephew know your fish were fine. My ice is white, not clear at all. Maybe the moving water, or more likely when it turned cold and ice formed, the wind was blowing, making the ice hazy. No clear ice here this time, but I've seen clearer ice than what I have this year. Really neat your could see your fish swimming around under the ice. How thick is your ice, Sissy? My ice seems to be heaving and going higher and higher!
Just a little warning to people with frozen ponds that turn on an air bubbler. I did that one time, with my big aerator, and it was lifting the ice, and it would have lifted it until it cracked and came crashing down on the pond. I was glad I was there to hear it lifting, and to get an opening before I turned it back on. If there is a hole for the air to escape, you're fine, but don't turn on a bubbler under a solid sheet of ice, even if it's thin ice.
