What do you know? It actually got warmer than 70F here today so I have to take back my coo coo comment from above. My hubby took me on a wild bike ride through some woods today. He had been on it before. We got to the place where there was a gate w/ a big sign someone posted saying: "WARNING" pack of extra large coyotes roaming this area. They had no fear of our group of people plus Visla dogs and were aggressive towards us. If hiking this area pack a gun and lock and load! Dated May 22,2014.

We had nothing but a fork to eat my tuna salad!

Ok so I wanted to turn around right then and get the heck outta there but nooooooooooo, hubby said we have come too far to turn back now. So off we go w/ me not happy and scared and complaining and telling him he better stand in front of me when the biting begins. I felt very vulnerable out there and also felt like I was in one of those horror movies I watch too many of where the weakest and whiniest one gets picked off first by the big toothed monsters! Fastest riding and not looking at anything but what was right in front of me riding through the woods that I ever did before in my life let me tell you! When we finally ran into a big long haired bearded buy w/ a great big stick I never felt so happy ever. I wanted to run up and hug him and give him a big kiss

Pretty sure that warning would of scared me off JW. Its creepy just listening to them yip and howl in the fields at night around here. Never seen them on our place but sometimes they are very, very close. Probably wouldn't be aggressive with humans but cats or dogs yes.

Ride fast like the wind JW!! I hate those bad coyotes and Poppy still remembers how they tore her hide off her hind legs a few years back!! Shoot them!!! They breed like crazy and then go looking for cats and dogs for supper! They have even taken dogs on leashes !

The South Saskatchewan river is rising, but should not be a threat to me now, so I can relax and enjoy the scenery!
Last night down by the river, across from the City Power House...

If I ever went back there I would have a giant can of pepper spray like Dog the bounty hunter has strapped to his side! Firecrackers might also work but I couldn't shoot them and don't have a gun

Cloudy here today and I heard the rain coming down last night. Supposed to clear up later. Hubby asked if I was ready for another bike ride today....................think I'll just do my walk today as I am still recovering from what he put me through yesterday w/ the coyotes and oh also pushing my bike through thick gravel forever also. I think that was worse than the coyotes!

61F/16C today, but overcast. I went out to check the pond this morning and it's mating season at its most crazy. Fish were chasing each other around like there's no tomorrow. Today is the only day when fish don't care about eating.

Also cleaned all my prefilters. Didn't know they were clogged up actually. The big pump was running good and water flow was good but all its 4 prefilters were clogged. Small pump was struggling and cleaned its filters. So a leisurely check up of the pond turned into filter cleaning. But it was quick and I did all my prefilters in about 20 mins.

Not much is new here. We have had lots of rain this past week. Parts of Iowa have had over 7 inches of rain in the past week. Its been really hot and humid. High in the low 90s with 70% humidity.. Went camping the last 2 weekends at our new found favorite state park. Green Valley State Park. Its an hours drive from our house, they have 160 sites, cabins, and a nice new play ground. We have camped the past 2 times right next to the playground so miss Eden can come and go as she wants from the playground and the campsite. Both times it did rain on us, but we didn't care. Pond is doing great. I have thinned out the water mint from taking over the bog so the other plants can grow. I planted a bunch of wild prairie plants on the back side of the pond to give it some color. Still no humming birds. The only thing that has found my hummer feeder is the ants. I have the orange humming bird juice in it. Am I using the wrong color? Did manage to go for a swim tonight in the pond to fertilize the lilies for the summer. Water was nice and cool and I did some cattail pruning too while I was in the pond. Fish didn't mind either because I fed them when I was done.

Ryan, sounds like we will be getting more rain the next few days then better mid week. Never heard of Green Valley SP. Sounds nice.
I need to be hopping in the pond soon also to discard some spent blooms.
I think hummers prefer or are more attracted to the red color food but I know they will drink the orange as well.
