Fence is drying, hope I can beat the rain... Cut the grass, weed wacked, and put things away cause the clouds are gathering and it sure is dark considering it is only about 4pm in the afternoon.
Where is everybody?? Anyone hear from Sissy these days?

Haven't seen Sissy on here for a while, come to think of it. Hope all is well with her hubby, thinking last time she was on here she had to take him for more tests.
Rainy drizzly day here, off and on, but nice cool temps, only in the low 70's again. This weekend, for Father's Day, supposed to be perfect! 82 and sunny Sat. and 90 and mostly sunny on Sunday! Great day to be out on the lake on a boat or fishing. Well, I'll be home playing in my ponds, so that's second best. LOL My dad passed away 11 years ago, my son does not have any children yet, daughter is getting married on July 1, so maybe next year I can celebrate Father's Day with someone. Will get lots done this weekend, though, in the sunshine and heat!
Colleen, we call those "bag worms" around here. I get where you call them tent caterpillars, because they make a web that looks like a tent. Sadly, when they do that on trees, they often damage the trees greatly, sometimes killing them. I looked them up, seems they morph into a moth. I would hate it to have them hanging out and dropping their poop into my ponds. Hoping they get done with their frenzy soon, and move on but sounds like they are doing that! Pretty sure I don't want any of them mailed to me to sell in kits, but thanks! LOL

Yep that was a dramatic storm you had there addy! Sorry you were feeling the bad effects from the bee stings. Glad you feel better today.

No rain here yet but it's on the way for some time this afternoon so I need to get busy and do whatever I want to do out there before it arrives. Really pretty nice out there right now w/sun popping through the clouds every now and then.

Was 62 this morning when I got up at 5. Sorta over cast with the sun peeping out every so often, but all in all a beautiful day. CE did you see the picture I posted of the Japanese Iris? It finally bloomed! And today, I got my first pond Lilly bloom :) I'll take a pic a post it later

A two-fer-one I kid you not.

First of all. I did a water change and filled up the pond. And guess what, every time I fill up the pond it rains. I kid you not.

Second of all, there was a hummingbird type bird trapped under the net. When I went to free him, his partner flew close to my head and landed on a nearby tree. I guess to make sure I wasn't going to harm him. I then lifted the net (which is in parts on a frame), the bird flew out. A moment later, he alighted back on the frame facing me before flying off, as if to thank me. I kid you not, I think that's exactly what he was doing, thanking me.

You know what they say about crows knowing who people who throw rocks at them are, or honey birds leading humans to a snake in revenge, I think birds are smarter than we give them credit for.

Also as an aside, same thing with fish. Yesterday, when I filled the pond with water from the hose, the fish were playing with it. One fish repeatedly swam into the current, got washed sideways and kept going back for more. They are definitely sentient up to a degree.

I found one little dead bird under our net (the first net, close weave) after finding that bird, net was gone. Now use a wide weave that won't trap any critters.just keeps out the heron.

Glad you saved the little bird!

Raining here, severe storms coming again.

@JohnHuff Do you ever listen to KIRO talk radio at noon w/ Dorey Monson? He told a story about some crows he had in his back yard doing damage of some sort and how he killed one of them and forever after that he swears that crows buddies came dive bombing at only him and not any other members of his family that came out the door. He swears they recognized him as the killer. They really are smart birds. What the heck is a Honey bird?

My fish do that too when I put the hose in there, they ride that current like at a water park and it flings them away but they do come back for more.

Wind picking up here and dark clouds getting thicker................think rain is on the way soon!

@addy watching your cameras now and it is pouring where you are now. I only see a few bees out there at your hives right now. Must be spending the day indoors cleaning house :)

There's space under the frame facing the waterfall where they can get in and out. I've seen birds under the net before. This is just the first time I've seen one not get out. I just took another look at there is space underneath where he could rest. I think he just panicked. I'm sure that birds will continue to fly under the net to do whatever it is they like to do there. Unless I feel it's more dangerous than not, I'll leave it as is for now.

LOL, Dory is pretty much the only talk show host I listen to. Ya, I've heard that about crows too. Smart and don't p**s them off!

You don't know about honey birds? That's one of the stories I read as a kid. Real birds. They lead humans to bees' nests. Humans smoke out the bees and leave them a piece of honeycomb. The fable is that one time a greedy guy decided to take all the honey and the next time the honeybird led him to a snake instead. Don't know if that's true or not.
