On the subject of crows, do you know they can tell the difference between a rifle and a shotgun? Whenever I went after them with my 20-gauge, they would stay just out of range, taunting me, but when I carried a rifle they would disappear out of sight. And it's not just me, I've heard the same story from others who have tried to shoot crows.

Have you tried bows and arrows, spears, rocks, Uzis, rockets and frag grenades? You could do a study of it.

No, our laws regarding dangerous weapons are MUCH stricter than yours. Spears and rocks are DEFINITELY out!!

Was 62 this morning when I got up at 5. Sorta over cast with the sun peeping out every so often, but all in all a beautiful day. CE did you see the picture I posted of the Japanese Iris? It finally bloomed! And today, I got my first pond Lilly bloom :) I'll take a pic a post it later
I did not see your Japanese Iris pic. Was it on this thread or yours? I must have missed it. Can you post it again here, or let me know where it is! I'd love to see it.
Going to be a gorgeous Father's Day weekend in Illinois. 80's and sunshine is what they are saying. Bring it on! I plan to be IN my ponds on Sunday, as temps going up to 85, and sunny. Oh, and going to "get my tan on" this weekend, my daughter is getting married in 2.5 weeks, so need to try to even out my "tank top farmer's tan". LOL

Did you iknow.... Crows are actually one of the smartest animals on the planet!! I watched the documentry called "The Death of the Crows" and they proved how very smart these birds really are! Not only can they "use a tool, but they can "make a tool" as well, which no other animal on the planet has shown the ability to make their own tools!! hey also morn the death of their family members. It was a very good documentary.

CE, they call those catapillers Tent Catapillers cause they all go into this big nest in the trees to sleep, it is a big web filled with zillons of them tent catapillers, they sleep in the large tent till they are done eating the trees and them they go and make their own caccoon when they are ready to enter their next stage of life.

Have to work lots these days, trying to catch up with everything, then I was outside half the night hanging clear shower curtains on the one side of the gazebo cause it has been cold and raining NON STOP!! Ponds look nice and clear, but water is colder this year as I think it is colder this June than last June, seems to just get colder every year.

My Casa Blanca lillys are dead!! I think the English Walnuts that hubby planted 20 years ago may be mostly DEAD too!! Still no leafs in them, but they are not meant to grow here anyway and were growing like bushes cause of our winters, but last winter was the worst, even some of my ground irises are DEAD!!!

Yeah I'll post it again later, can't post from where I am. I think it's in the tread " what does your pond look like today".

Yep knew about the crows being super smart and grieving their family members. They are very neat to watch.

Not raining right now and should be ok for a nice cooler bike ride to the car show in town. A friend has a rat truck there on show.

yes we are, I never deny my true nature, I eat animals and use them to cloth me and I exploit our resources to keep pond and house warm all winter! Sucks if you are not on the top of the food chain, cause me and the fat puppies might just eat you! ha ha ha Speaking of food, last night we ate a cow, the Japan style beef burgers (Wagyu) were the fat is marbled just perfect in the meat, was 10 dollars for just four burgers, but that cow burger was very tasty! We sell them at the Superstore now, and if you buy the burgers you get Ace Gourmet buns (free of all presertives and only natural ingredients) Get the coupon at the front of the store...
Well it rained day and night and day and night, for a while thought I was living in Washington! ha ha ha!
Flowers look good and so does the new stain on my fence! Water is ICE cold today in pond....
Need to stain the rest of fence but weather man says more rain coming and build a ark!

Ha ha Colleen yes it is scheduled to rain any moment now. Quite surprised it isn't already as they said today was going to be a wet one. I need to get out there and walk so I can listen to that scary Black House book while I walk. I am really hooked on this audio book stuff..............can you tell? By Tuesday we should be having quite the sun worshiping festival tho
