I've seen robins perched on lily pads getting a drink, so yes, they definitely will do that. And btw, my first lily pad of the year JUST reached the surface today! I think last year I had blooms by this time.

Yep, Haro, last year was VERY early, and this year is VERY late, it seems. And, thanks for confirming the birds could land on the lily pads. All the lily pads are very small this year, but then I didn't divide them, nor fertilize them yet! I had HUGE lily pads on one of my lilies, and they were actually too large, grew like crazy and didn't bloom as much as usual, so going to hold off on fertilizing all of them, and see what the difference is when fertilize some, and not others.
It was drizzly on and off this morning, had to keep stopping my yard work, but finally quit by noon, and sun came out by late afternoon, which was fine with me. Didn't need any sunscreen! Beautiful weather, temps only around 80 for a high.

Today was 80 degrees and sunny. Cut down a few small trees that were growing too close to others. Pond was pretty clear today. & an old best friend I haven't seen in 8, maybe 10 years, stopped by today to see the pond. All in all, a pretty good day.

I have my first lily for my pond, so I'm interested to see if it's necessary to feed them.

I have fed mine and not fed mine, they do bloom better and more often with some food.

Another week of nice weather forecast for us, darn it.
I could use some bad weather for a few days so I can get some rest!

geez whine about the snow and rain..............then beautiful weather comes and you whine cause your tired! I am the same keep hoping for a rainy day, so I can goof off. Almost caught up from the deer damage the cold damage, planting gardens etc................ sure do love the down rainy days, but then the inside of the house calls to me..........time to clean. I can usually ignore that. lol

I got the davis temp probe in the pond, it is neat to watch the temps change. My bog really does affect the temp, it swings by around 6 degrees, evening to morning. The surface area of the bog cools and warms it. We are still in the 50ish during the night makes the pond drop from 75 to 68 over night. Then sunny warm day it climbs back up

Yesterday a complex of storms moved through. Got .84" of rain at my station. I would have posted yesterday but I had to go to work. The storm had a nice shelf cloud as seen the pictures. Since my tablet it temporarily out of order I got the photos with my mom's IPhone. Thought I'd post them here.
