Poor kitty
I couldn't believe when we went into the city of Everett this morning only about 30 miles south of us to go to my doc's. There was the remnants of about 3 or 4" of snow all over the place there and we didn't get even one ounce up north where we live.................................

Sissy, calcium oxalate is what my kidney stones are composed from. Lots of things have that in them including all kind of nuts. Wow, just looked and you are right sissy it seems protein has oxalates in it too. When my regular uro doc gets back from his vacation I am going to have a followup call w/ him about which foods to eat and which to not eat. The guy I saw today gave me the bum's rush as I was a fit in as an emergency call.

Well geez, j.w., you ARE always collecting stones! Hope this one passes painlessly.
Just got the latest weather report; only 1 1/4" of rain now, but extensive flooding and PONDING!!!!! Not in MY pond, though, it's still frozen over. :censored:

My hubby years ago when he had stones was told meat can cause them also.He did not eat most of the other stuff on the lists the doctor gave him .But he said he likes meat .I love nuts but not all the time ,never had kidney stones .Most hospitals here if you sign up has healthy diets program .You just have to look at what diets are for what problems .Like my hubby was on a diet for heart healthy and high cholesterol and they send me how to make them and what to buy at the grocery store to make them .His cholesterol is down and now I added high blood pressure to his list .Seems like getting 5 pints of blood raised his blood pressure and before that it was fine .

jw- don't know if kidney stones and bladder stones are similar and I'm sure people and cats are not the same. When we moved into this house our cats started getting bladder stones. We lost 7 cats in 5 years even tho we did what the vet recommended and used the special food. After our last bout with Boo, a 4 month old who had to undergo major surgery to remove most of his urinary tract, I did some research. We switched to distilled water for them and have not had a problem in 9 years. Have you tested your water for hardness? Oxalate crystals was the problem with our cats and it seems to be solved. Don't want to offend by comparing you to our cats but hubby and I have both had bouts of stones since moving here not to mention 7 hot water tanks and 6 dish washers! Just some thing to consider-

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, we have a well here and I suppose it is full of minerals but we do have a filter on our fridge and that is the only water I drink from the house. Don't think our water is that hard either. We have no problems w/ the water heater or washer and we have been here for over 13 yrs. Nobody else in our cul de sac has had any problem w/ the stones. I may be just susceptible to getting them as my son who lives in a different city w/ no well gets them every year around his birthday. He started getting them in his 20's but I didn't get my first till way over that age. Did not get any till we moved to this house tho. I just don't know. Thanks for your idea's and maybe I could try drinking bottled water? I'll see what the doc says about this. It is a mystery to me!

Well that may not be the answer then for me. I will see what my regular uro doc has for advice when he's back from vacation. I think these doc's are making too much money off of us as they sure seem to take a lot of vacations

Aha thanks for the info on that idea. I'm thinking w/ our filter and no one else around here w/ that problem then it must be something else I am eating too much of w/ the oxalates in them. Thought we had it cuz I was buying those giant container of peanuts all the time from Costco and snacking on them each night so cut those out completely like the doc suggested to see if I would stop producing the stones. The stones are less frequent and smaller as they don't show on the xrays but sometimes I can catch them in a stone strainer that the doc gave me. Gonna see if I catch any this time again.

I buy the water from machines in the grocery store or Wal-Mart. It's reverse osmosis water, EVERYTHING is removed, just water left. In fact, I use it for my large tropical aquariuim, because my well water was too hard for that aquarium, but then I have to add minerals. I now have figured out the right mixture of my well water and pure water.
BTW, by using only RO water for my coffee maker, I NEVER have to clean it for lime build up. I've had the same coffee maker for 5 years now, never has slowed down while brewing, and finally realized that's what it is. My water is fine to drink, I just don't like the softener salty taste, and it has a funny taste to it, so got used to buying bottles water.
Snow geese are back!!! I didn't see them, but went outside after work, dark, HEARD them! There have to be hundreds of them and they were likely just down the road from my house. The sound was bouncing off of the barn, closer to the barn I got, louder it was. Walked out on road in front of the house, and although it was VERY dark (storm coming tonight), it was like they were 20' in front of me! Pretty sure they were 1/10 mile away or more, but have heard them before, when it was light out, and could see them, and a large flock can easily cover a 40 acre field!
We have had temps in the 50's last couple of days, and tomorrow supposed to reach almost 60, but rain and wind and storms. Good news is that the snow is about 95% gone! Ponds are both pretty much ice free, too. Spotted lots of the goldfish, but the koi are hanging under the 2' shelf of ice remaining on the waterfall end. Hoping to spot them tomorrow a.m. if it's not storming!

JW hope you figure out what is causing your stones. :(

CE neat you have that large flock of geese nearby. Cool to look at and listen to but sure could make big messes if they hang out in your yard!

Well we are under a blizzard warning tomorrow. Will start out with rain by morning then change to snow early afternoon and winds will pick up as the afternoon goes on. Expecting up to 5" and wind gusts up to 45mph. Yuk Yuk Yuk We just had a couple days of warm temps (lower 50s)
Pond half open and now a blizzard. Getting to work tomorrow should be no problem. Getting home not so much. But hard to be accurate with snow predictions with these kinds of storms. Who knows what we will really get. Soooo ready for spring!

Haver, the first year I bought my house (in Sept. 2009) I saw my first flock of snow geese. They like the open corn fields, clean up the pieces left over. I watched "a" flock fly over one day, and timed it well over 5 minutes of continuous flock after flock. Then counted the average number of birds per flock, and started counting the flocks. I was well past 1,000 in no time. Saw a group of them on a 40 acre wheat field last year in spring. They were there in the morning , and when I went home that evening, the whole field was gone, except for some green on the edges near the highway! And, they pooped on the south end of my house and barn twice within a week that year, too. I was evidently on their flight pattern in the morning or evening. Seems they land at dusk, always big wide open field, so safer from sneaky predators. I've taken pics of them in the fields, and spooking and flying, and they literally cover the sky until they get into formation. They are a total mess, evidently not good to eat, and are becoming a menace, but I still marvel at their numbers. I love the Canada geese, wish I could get a pair to nest and stay on my small farm pond, but the dogs chase them for fun, and they never stay.
