Warming up here too!. Hoping my 2 dozen lotus plants have survived after being frozen solid. Knew the 50 gal. pot would freeze but the 10x2x2 section has been frozen solid for weeks and 18 year old lotus in there.

JW that part of the river is very shallow, maybe only a foot of water is there, plus I did go out on the ice and it is very thick. I walk there every summer and know where the deep dangerous parts are, and would never let the puppies out if I did not think it was ok. My hubby would freak and he hates it when I take them to the river this time of the year. It was nice and warm and sunny and that area is frozen solid, all one foot of it, maybe two feet at the most. The river is so low this time of the year that when I hit a air pocket my foot falls threw the ice there to the frozen ground, no any water left there at that part of the river, The water that you see is the water on top of the ice that has melted cause the sun was hot.

68 overnight and around 76 again today... the fish are loving it...and they are eating up a storm.

callingcolleen1: excuse my non-technical description - but the photo of your koi - the silver metallic with the black spot - what is the technical name of the koi?
I have one very similar to it - even has the same black spot - it has a yellow head...of course mine is barely 3 inches long!
thanks!

What a lousy day today, the sun ran away and it is getting cloudly, supossed to snow later and then back to the "deep freezer" for a couple days!! Life sucks without that big yellow round ball shining! Now I know how JW Feels!! :grumpy:

I finally got up and out of the tub and made breakfast and fresh coffee too, was tired after working the freezer over yesterday at work. The other people who work freezer always leave it a big mess!

Need to washdish, cloths, clean floor, wash truck, take broken kitchen drawers in to get fixed ... the list of things to do is endless, but I see the sun is poking out thew the clouds finally!! :)

Was 40F this morning but seem colder as we were out early in the morning to take my daughter to get her wisdom teeth out. I'm glad she took it like a champ. Back home now and much warmer.

Went to the garden center this morning to blow the snow away from the front of the building (getting ready to open) and the SUN came out! Working in shirt-sleeves, and SWEATING! 45 degrees F.! Now I hear we're getting j.w.'s weather for a few days (rain, up to 4" of it), so more of the white stuff should be gone soon! Summer could be here within five months!!!!!!!

I love those stoves too, looked at lots online, but they all look like they are gas too, not to sure about havng a gas stove in the house, they can make the walls black I hear. Then I refuse to pay thousands of dollars for a colored stove, so I will have to settle for a yellow and an orange wall for now. I just love my colored walls!

Meanwhile the weather has taken a turn for the worse, big swirling angry black clouds rolled in the a big wind, and it was so windy at the park it almost blew me over I swear! Wind seems to have calmed down a little now but I am back in town now and the wind is always less down in the valley where I am. This weekend we are forcast to have horrible cold again, supposed to get down to minus 22 Celsius (-8 F)

Just when the pretty cobble was showing up cause the ice was melting, now it is starting to snow again!

Wind blew trees over up the road and our power was out last night for about 6 hours. Great flashes of light were happening where the trees crashed into the power lines and lighting up the sky.
What? Just looking outside now and it is HAILING! More thick rain is going to fall tonight on us.
I think I am having a kidney stone again, dog gone it! Wonder if it will be a girl or a boy...........don't mind me..............pain pills kicking in now

Jw, I hope your stone passes quickly! Those things are nasty!

We had a snow squall here this morning, couldn't even see across the yard. Another cold snap coming like Colleen says.
I think we have just enough firewood to get us through.
Hopefully this is old man winter's last kick at the cat.
