Punxutawney Phil is sort of wrong on his weather forecast.

There are actually SEVEN weeks of winter left. Winter ends March 20. That is seven weeks away. Therefore winter is not going to be six weeks longer, it's going to be the same length as it should be. It just won't end six weeks EARLY.

I guess we should be grateful that the weather we currently are having isn't any worse.... In June of 1783 a volcano erupted in Iceland (Laki) and kept erupting until February of 1784. It spewed 120,000 metric tons of gaseous sulfur compounds into the upper stratoshpere over that period of eight months. Sulfuric gases are extremely efficient at blocking the sun's radiation. The winter of 1783 was so cold due to the "volcanic winter" which ensued that the Mississippi River froze over at New Orleans and there were ice floes in the Gulf of Mexico! Someone told me that the average LOW winter temperature for the New England area was -32 F. Ouch!

I saw the story about that on history channel it blocked out sun and killed people also .It was an amazing story .They had it on when the showed natural disasters and showed the one where there was a whole town that was between mountains and the air got still and solid and all the production from the factories caused a haze over the town that also killed people .Yet we don't learn from the past enough

Everything was white w/ frost this morn and still is but only a few flakes of snow fell. Sun will win again today and it will be down in the teens tonight...............NORMAL HIGHS THIS TIME OF YEAR ARE AROUND 50 DEGREES. ON THURSDAY THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE SOME LOCATIONS WILL NOT GET ABOVE FREEZING FOR A HIGH TEMPERATURE.THERE IS THE POTENTIAL TO BREAK NUMEROUS LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS DURING THIS PERIOD.

In other words we are going to "FREEZE OUR BUTTS OFF"

Went out for a swim earlier and it was 36F/2C. It was so cold that I thought it was a bit crazy. But once I got the old blood flow going, I felt a lot warmer both inside and outside. It's now 38F/3C and real Sunny and cool. Why would anyone want to leave here for Irvine, CA is beyond me???!!! (quick, j.w, I need one of your "scratching my head gifs"!
