OK, my mind is made up. Sissy has gotten a few small snows, enough to quench my thirst for snow every winter, and has had the best temps for winter temps, and still have it feel like it's not quite yet spring. So, when I retire, I'm moving to VA! With the prices you have quoted for your area, Sissy, I'll be enlisting you to look for a house when that times comes. LOL It's about 8 years away yet, but hey, buying a fix her upper in your area, I'll hire you to come help me remodel it, and we will have coffee every morning ... and break ... and during the day ... and a pond to look out at while we remodel.
My daughter wants me to move to UT when I retire, but I'm secretly hoping she moves somewhere else between now and then, so it will be a climate more to my liking. I don't care for the dry climate out there, nor the lack of grass unless you spend tons of money watering it every year. I want grass like nature intended it, with moisture from the sky. Maybe not so much moisture though like JW has, NOPE, not that much, but enough.
I have 23 degrees here right now, after the rain all day yesterday, water is everywhere, frozen in place. Some areas had soooo much water I was walking through 3-4" of water in puddles going to the barn. Now that's frozen over. If it's shallow, it's ice, if deeper, I broke through it walking on it this morning. Grass just has small amount of snow and easier to walk on. Left air bubbler off again last night, and although koi pond was frozen over, it was a "soft freeze" and I was able to push it to break it, let the air come out from under the ice. Turned all heaters back on again, too (water trough for horses, and 2 ponds). North winds were howling in the barn this morning, sounded like a scary movie.
