It was pretty nice and warm early this morning, and it snowed another couple inches today I think. Since then it has cooled off. Right now it is -18c or zero Fahrenheit.

The court house down town blew a transfomer that caused the power outages for a while last night, as reported in the newspaper this morning. When I drove by the city workers were still there investgating what went wrong.

Got pictures of the big fish in the top pond now that the ice has broke. They survived the extreme cold last week and are doing just fine! :fish: :fish2: :goldfish:

Will have to look at your winter pics thread, Addy! Sissy, I also hate the wind. Give me zero degrees, sunshine and no wind, and I can handle it (wouldn't want to work outside in it, but fine to handle for an hour to mess around outside). But, when it's 20 and 20-25 mph winds from the north, Bah .... too cold! Tomorrow night supposed to get down to 4, with wind chills -5 to -20 ... Brrrrrrrr .....
Colleen, I'm amazed you have so much open water in your ponds, with zero degrees as your temperature! That heater looks like it has snow on top of it, but sure must be doing the job warming the water. My horse's water trough tank heater is keeping most of the tank open, but temps only in the 20's. Tomorrow night we shall see how well it does!
Stream and bog in goldfish pond still running well, bubblers in both ponds keeping nice openings in the ice. Thinking of a large change next year in the koi pond .... Like how the stream at ground level runs just fine, but the waterfall and area above ground level is colder and freezes too easily. Want to try to design things so I can keep water circulating better in the koi pond for the future ... we shall see if it comes to anything, or just a pipe dream. :blueflower:

Oh, had to let you all know that my daughter was teasing me on my FB page. I reported "Abundant sunshine" for today, which I thought was hilarious, as just noticed it on HER weather.com website on Sunday. Never saw them refer to "sunny" as "abundant" sunshine. She calls me the "weather bug", as if I'm the only one that enjoys talking about the weather. So, I told her this thread has many many followers and pages and pages of comments about the weather, so I'm obviously not in the minority. LOL

You are definately not in the minority. I'm surprised that weather could become such a socialable topic. I love it here. Just like meeting up with friends each day at the favorite ma & pa cafe.

Ya, I totally agree with you. This forum has become my go to place for a nice chat when I'm low. It's like my neighborhood cafe where I can have a cup of joe and meet my pals. In contrast my sports forum is where you can always go for a fight.

Weather has much warmer lately. Was 42F earlier this evening and right now it's 28F at 1:41am.

You are warming up, sir john, we are diving down. night Temp in the teens for the next week, day temps high 20's, low 30's. Last week we were in the high 60's.

34 degrees and really sunny nice day at least the wind is not as bad as yesterday .Went and watered the plants in the basement and checked the pond and now time to clean the house ,I need energy anyone have any extra to lend me .

Finally above freezing here! Woo Hoo! 34F feels warm after the last week. The fish are all in a line in the pond. I find it interesting they are all facing south. By all, I mean at least 20. I have a lot more fish than I realized. If they successfully spawn again, I'm going to have to find homes for the babies.

I picked this forum as it seemed to be the friendliest and it turns out I was correct. Plus, there is a lot of information to guide me as I repair and improve our pond.

bigger pond maybe .I have given babies away also .But every time I give them away I find more babies .sneaky little devils .Came in to warm up and get coffee .I figure if I can get a few things done every day I can maybe catch up before spring gets here .I just wish I had a an idea what winter will be like .It just never ends .My next house will be modern and not much land .

CE mine all face north in the winter, anytime they are just hanging out in the winter.

Sissy, I eat these dark chocolate balls that are just the finest chocolate around here, they give me a quick energy fix, do you like dark chocolate??
