They are saying storm is coming here and get ready to drag out the generators. I think they are nuts as it's calm as heck out there right now. Thinking it will be a Tinkerbell storm w/ slight winds and a bit of rain. Oh the drama they like to throw at us here all the time. Snow level dropping to 3000'. Will not effect us as we are at 300' level. We have such boring weather here

Wow Mitch 6 months of snow................I don't think I would be able to handle that one! 6 months of rain................who am I kidding, more like 8 or 9 is bad enough and I do love snow but I suspect I love it cuz we only get a few inches if we are lucky and then it leaves w/in a week usually. How do you feel about the snow Mitch? Do you like it or do you just lump it?

I'm pretty happy wherever I am, jw.
koiguy posted something about the sounds of nature. That's pretty much where I'm at.
I got all the bird feeders filled this afternoon. The bears are getting close to hibernating again so it's safe to put them out.
Lots of birds and squirrels were visiting today. Woodpeckers too.

Addy, did you know that Interstate 70 goes from east coast to west coast ... and Interstate 57 goes from north to south ...and those two interstates intersect in Effingham, Illinois, therefore known as the "Crossroads of the US"! Yep, that's where I work, I actually live west of Effingham. Just a tidbit of info for those of you geographically inclined.
I got a total of 2.2" of rain in the last 2 days, ending last night right after trick or treating ended at 8. It was miserable for the little tykes ... well I guess it was, as I only had 1. Yep, most of my candy in the freezer, but I left some out for good ole me! :biggrinangelA: I love chocolate, but I don't tend to eat too much at one sitting.
Exciting drive home from work last night. Came home right at dusk, and saw a dozen deer lined up to cross the highway where I see them a lot. So, as my son the hunter told me to do, I dimmed my lights, and when I got closer I honked at them. (He didn't tell me to honk, just dim lights so they can see where they are going!). They all turned around and headed away from the highway. THEN, about 2 miles from home, another deer highway, saw a doe ahead cross, so dimmed lights and slowed way down, thinking her fawns I usually see with her would jump out and cross after her. Waited and went VERY slow, then BOOM!!! Here was the HUGE buck that everyone wants on their wall after deer season! If I had kept going and not slowed down, pretty sure I would have nailed that sucker ... but my Charger would not have been happy, nor I! It was beautiful to see him cross in front of me, though. And, no, I didn't dim my light for him, I wanted to see him in all his glory. Very tall rack from profile view, at least 8, probably 10 points. Would have liked to see him head-on to see if he had nice width to his rack. :blueflower:

The deer eat the bird seed when I hang it in the tree, have to hang it really high cause they can stand on their back legs to reach further and have grabbed and eatten all the seed many times. I never had to rake the crab apples or plums away, the deer ate them all off the grass now, even the ones that I had raked into a pile under the trees.

I took half the halloween decorations down today after work, then the boy from across the street walked by and I asked him if he wanted to have the rest of my candy, he rushed over eager and I put it in a bag and gave it to him. Then he told me I was the nicest person he knows, and that made me feel so good, he is such a nice boy, his mom is the lady across the street who has been very sick on and off, battling cancer for several years now. Poor kid, and I think he does not know who is dad is. I think I will make them a little gingerbread house stuffed with nice chocolates for them for Christmas.

Our feeders are 20 feet up so i can see the birds from the windows. Trying to figure out how to put out 2 months of food, since honey wants to head south when he retires in jan for a few months. The birds are used to being spoiled here.

Wow, good luck addy. Our tube seed container sometimes empties in a day!
Maybe you could hire one of the neighborhood kids?

With bears so close CE, we really need to take care with anything that might attract them - bird feeders, outside pet food, bar-b ques, garbage.
Grizzlies are designated a "species at risk" in Alberta and I would feel pretty terrible if we were the cause of of one of them having to be put down.

Nasty weather and on our way to a health fair put on by hubby's union way down south past Seattle. Bad day for driving but we get all our lab tests done for free so it's worth going. Supposed to be real windy and lots of rain. See you all later :regular_waving_emot
