Happy belated B-day, Ryan. I loved the pic of the kiddie stroller with teddy in the cup holder! And, little Eden with her legs crossed. Adorable!!!!
I had a dream/nightmare last night, too! Dreamed I was sneaking around my former husband's house (where I used to also live when we were married) wanting to see his landscaping. He had a bunch of grasses and flowers planted ... well his girlfriend did, that is. And, then someone saw me, and I was running with my eyes literally closed in the corn field, because it was night, and I could not see, and figured with my eyes closed I could "feel" my way. LOL They found me, I got lost in the corn, right behind his house! Yikes! Turns out he wasn't even mad. I told him I didn't mean to be snooping, just wanted to see the plants! Hahahaha that's a riot, because he would have called the cops in real life.
So, must have been night for nightmares and dreams!

Countryescape thats a good idea and will try that with the bubbler this winter. This is the first winter for this pond and it's way deeper (my reason to keep the fish kids in the pond instead of bringing them in for the winter to their tank inside) This pond is just about 4' deep at the deepest parts. The bubbler sits at about the 2' level on a crate (in another crate for that matter to help keep it upright). I just figured more filtration is good so all around inside the small crate the bubbler sits in I pack batting. I have baby fish in this pond and dont want them sucked up into the pump so another reason why I do this, since in my smaller pond a few decided to commit suicide this way. They are sooo tiny...and only had two survive last yr in my small pond (which I might add are now pretty much 3 1/2" :D ) Basically I use it as a precaution and another filtration system.
Am wondering how the batch of lil guys this year in the big pond will fair over winter (so far I've seen 5)?? Right now they are about 3/4 of an inch...am guessing when I brought the big kids over to the new pond they had some "fishy fun" and made themselves right at home with this new batch!
Still wondering if with the bubbler underwater if I should also put a heater and airstone in? First year with a deep enough pond to leave them out...and pray for the best.

Brandonsdad those are some adorable kids you have there! I also always camped with my 4 kids (their dad wasn't much into camping) but we went at least a couple times a month during the summer and still do! Ok with the exception of this year as we were busy moving/remodeling and relandscaping, but next year plan on getting back into it! Here's a pic of my oldie but a goodie, and it's nice now cuz one of my daughters has the boat and a camper, and the other 3 tent camp yet, so I dont have to share anymore! Ok unless it's raining that is then I do with my tent kids :D

Rebel, I wasn't thinking about fry and your bubbler, so the extra filter will be good ... until you have problems and need to clean it and the pond is partly frozen. Just be careful! Another thought, maybe use the air bubbler INSTEAD of the water bubbler. You won't have to worry about it clogging up or sucking fry into it, and it will do the same thing. I use the heater AND bubbler (air or water). The heater opens the hole, the bubbler keeps it open, and only need to plug in the heater again if the temps are really cold. But, usually keep just a hole open when it gets really cold, no need to heat the entire pond. By keeping my bogs running that helps to warm the water, since the bogs are in the ground.
I envy those of you that camp with your families! My kids are grown and late 20's, have not gone camping with either for several years. I always loved getting away and camping, too.
Highs here are low 60's and lows 40 or some nights down into the 30's. Looks like this weekend will be spent getting plants brought inside for the winter that won't survive outside. Thinking my red/green banana plant is already cussing me out! LOL

Rebel, I think the fry would be ok with the pump. The impeller isn't big enough to chop them up at that size. This past spring I rebuilt my bog and a few weeks afterwards I had some toad poles end up in the bog swimming around. There was only one way they could have gotten there and that was thru the pump screen, in the pump and up the tubing, into the bottom of the bog and up thru all the pea gravel. That had to be one heck of a ride, but they were fine and got big and grew up. If the fry would go thru the pump, it would be so fast they would be swimming back in the pond in a matter of seconds if you are just using it to break the surface of the water to keep it open this winter. I got 2 pumps running and as of right know, I plan on leaving them both running all winter. I did that last winter and only had one issue with my bog freezing up, but I was only running one pump for both the waterfall and the bog.

Ryan, do you have any standing water in your bog? If so, maybe the toad mama went there to lay eggs, and they hatched in the water. I wish my toads would do that, instead of laying eggs in the pond, as it's very difficult for a baby toad to get back out of my pond, sides are too steep. :blueflower:
I totally agree with you about the pumps. To me, having to pull a pump to clean a filter is NOT my idea of keeping my pond clean. I'd rather go every 3-4 months and pull the pump and pull the pump shield off and remove anything that may get into the impeller and cause it not to work as efficiently. All other pumps can push pieces up to 1/8 or 1/4" in size, and since they all feed things with more filtration which are much easier to clear (Skippy, skimmer filter pad, stream), I leave any pre-filter off.

I've brought in all my taro, elephant ears and banana trees along with alot of other plants for the winter last week. Hate it when I have to bring em in cuz that just means it's that time of year....cold. We've been getting into the 30's at night and 50's low 60's for the daytime highs. My roses are in full bloom and so far are still doing good. Still need to pull the garden though, but at least having to mow has slowed down. Ah fall...

well the weather is great and supposed to be 70 today and hubby is out of hospital and took him to doctor yesterday and he had to go to labcorp to get hemoglobin tested again and hoping it is still up .I signed up at there sight to get tests results faster and also that sight referred me to health vault last night and was amazed how they found all of our other addresses with just a name and they will now be compiling all his medical records and test results and going to add mine after it is done with his .So much easier to have all that info in one place and all because of labcorp .It will make all the info easier to find on his test results .I have lots of bills as I signed up for the online version of blue cross to get it all that way and so far all we owe is very minimal .He saw the internist yesterday and next week he sees the heart surgeon and so far all results at least say no cancer and his hemoglobin leaving the hospital was 9.9 not the greatest but better than 6.5 .Been so busy trying to keep up house and yard and then kitchen faucet broke and called moen since I could not find the part number and they are sending me the part free .Said the faucet is still under warranty even though it is 6 years old and looked up the part number and almost 40 dollars for it .I am glad I put all moen in my house now .Thank you all for the well wishes .Just hoping this time it is all over .They are linking it to a combo of the effient and low dose aspirin and that the should not have been prescribed together and that he should not have been on the effient for more than 3 months .Doctor really made a big boo boo that could have cost my hubby his life .Pharmacy also should have caught it also .Never thrust go on your gut check things out .Now I know .

Absolutely wonderful to hear from you Sissy. Fantastic to learn that your hubby is okay and out of hospital. Many, many prayers have been said nightly for your hubby and your entire family. Sissy, you are a big part of this on-line community. With that said, as each day passed your husbands health and your condition were on our minds. Must admit I was very concerned but now am so relieved. Happy day! How refreshing it is to have you back. Please stay in touch dear lady. Go right now and give hubby a gentle hug for us.

Sorry about the faucet. You may find this odd yet how great it is to have you back talking about fixing this or that.

Best regards,
Louis
