Yeah, I have the warm, and you guys have the rain! Just noticed it has started to sprinkle, so let the rain begin. Come on, I could seriously use 2-3" of the wet stuff here. I would gladly trade off some of my warm weather for some of you folks' moisture! Maybe this round I'll get a good amount. Sat., areas around here got really nice hard showers, I didn't get enough to register in my rain gauge!

45 here right now and we had a nice rain yesterday that we needed. Suppose to be in the 30's for the nights lows this week...I still have to get a heater and an air stone for the new pond for winter and just not sure when I should shut down my makeshift waterfall (which is just the diy tote). Sure dont want my roses and purple grass to fizz out yet so probably going to have to cover them each evening. Need to pull the garden too as I'm done canning for this year, let alone get the a/c units out of the windows for winter's approach...I dont like cold but alas in Nebraska it still comes each year this time. Guess my day off will be a busy one to get the yard/pond ready...oh and I still have to move all my xmas stuff over from the other house! No rest for the.....wait a min I'm not wicked!

Not exactly sure when to pull my filter either. I'm guessing probably mid November as anytime after that we could be cold enough to get snow that could stay on the ground for a while.

I have a DIY tote filter too. Do you have any photos of yours?

This is how I have mine set up for now...plan on building a bog next spring as ran out of time to do it this year. It's make shift but worked will have to drain it for the winter and may just leave the bubbler going (without the top on it that makes it spray).

Nice sunny afternoon, close to 60 degrees right now, but early this morning there was frost on the windshield that needed scraping!

Hubby is busy harvesting the dried Indian beans and the potatoes. Having our leftover turkey on a crunchy French Harvest grain Baguette, yummy!! Yesterdays was our (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner. :)

Good idea to keep the fountain going without the fountain head, therefore a bubbler. That will help keep the water open when/if you need to put a heater on it thaw the top.
Well, once again, I got slighted by Mother Nature! I'm starting to wonder about where I live!!! In Effingham, where I work (15 miles west of me) it rained a steady rain for probably 4-6 hours. They must have gotten a minimum of an inch. On way home, noticed just before I turned off the blacktop/highway that the road all of a sudden was almost dry! Yep, at my house, barely a tenth of an inch. What gives???? Yes, I would definitely trade some 60's weather for some rainy! :disappointed_anim:

Well, I cut back all the lilies today and gave the bog a good trim. That water mint has really taken over the bog this summer. I guess that's what happens when you work 10 hr days and go camping Thursday thru Sunday pretty much every weekend. We will be at 35 days of camping after camping this next weekend. I think we will be done for the year after this weekend.

My other plants squeeze out the water mint, it just sort of grows never takes over. I am going to plant some in the back field, good nectar plant for bees.

Bogs and ponds can wait, camping is great fun!
