Wow, good thing I don't have access to that many rocks and stones, Colleen, cause I would have severe back problems! Or, I would take my tractor on a flatbed and really load up the suckers. There are some really cool looking rocks! Can't wait to see your new creations ...

I am done for tonight, made a mess and started the cobbling process. The ground is still wet from the heavy rain the other day so digging can be mucky in spots. Going to get more rocks to play with in the garden tomorrow.

Here is the start of something wonderful..... in the night!

44F this am, only reaching a high of 58F today with 50 percent chance of rain :(. It has rained almost everyday for the last couple of weeks and haven't seen a high of 60 in as long. I'm starting feel that I'm in Seattle with all this rain! :)

Well, shucks, MT, wish we could get some rain, and you're wishing for not so much, like WA friends. I'm hoping the chance tonight will hit my property, I sure need it! Heading up to 80 again today, but it's being wasted in a way, because I have so many things I want to do outside in the ground (moving and splitting plants) but can't dig unless I water it for an hour and then wait for another few hours for it to soak in really well. I have to wonder about my wells and volume of water. Pretty sure never have to worry, but I don't want to push my luck. Just figure will wait out Mother Nature ... surely she will give me my fair share sooner or later! Just hoping it's not 40 degrees outside by the time ground finally gets a good soaking, though.
Love your cobbling, Colleen!!!! I have a bunch of stones from the creek, but planning to use them when I redo the edge of the stream. When I do that, I will have a bunch of flat flagstone to use elsewhere .... planning on what to use those for .... :blueflower:

Is it usually so hot and dry down in Illinois CE? It would be nice to have the 80 degree weather again, seems all we can manage this week is barely 70' if we are real lucky! Right now the furnance has just kicked in, the house was chilly this morning, We got a heavy rain a few days ago but all that has done is make the chilly weather colder and now the chill goes to the bone with the dampness. Right now we are at about 40 degrees, should hopefully get a little warmer later today,

Gosh colleen if you were close iI would lone you my rock dolly all you have to do is get it under the rock and tilt and you can pull or push it home 0r use ramps to get it on the back of the truck .Cold here at night but it gives you a heavy dew in the morning .Still cold and it is after 11 .But at least the chill keeps the stink bugs away .Clouds look like rain but it is not supposed to rain .

Think I am in the right place this time. I see I posted in CE's thread last time as I just seen it there. I knew I had posted it somewhere
Wet and wild here today w/ some rain and wind. Not going to get above 60. No more shorts, it's into the long pants from here on out.

More rocking out Colleen? Man you are a trooper as that work is back breaking. If I had such good access to close rocks as you do to snatch up I would do more. I like your size asst and shapes and how you have some bigger ones left up higher out of the ground in some area's. You also have lots of nice different colors. I like sissy's idea of that rock dolly thing, never heard of one like that. Can you use it on the public roads or do you have to sneak home w/ it slowly sissy?

Koiguy your fish are going to love you again for treating them so royally every winter. Guess you don't want to take any chances on waiting too long to bring them in or you might get surprised w/ a freeze and then have to be out in the cold freezing your butt off.

Colleen, last year was a record drought for our area. Pretty much no rain from something like June 1 until September, and highs in the 90's almost every day. This year, I've just missed out on some good rains (2-3") in the area, where I only got .1" or so.
It's pretty breezy here, but I'm loving hearing the big wind chime (the one that is so large I don't even put the wind catcher thingy on it, because I get enough wind to make it chime without it!!!), and seeing the windmill spin and spin. Also, my spinner that goes 2 different directions is really getting with it. Sunny here, about 82. I got into both of my ponds (koi pond first, since still not positive what is/was killing fish in goldfish pond ...) and pruned lilies one last time ... at least last time from IN the pond. Then I got the flat rock out of the pond and back on top of the skimmer ... thinking neighbor dog caused that ... and also 2 lily pots that somehow got moved from the edge shelf to the bottom of the pond ... again, thinking neighbor's golden retriever got in and knocked them off the shelf. Also set up the air bubbler and water fountain pumps, so they are ready to go when the freezing weather hits. Last year it was hard to get the weighted milk crates they were on to land just the right direction. So, much easier to place them while I was in the pond. Just plug them in and I'm ready now!
