The police apparently found 330 people staying in their homes down in High River and are getting close to arresting them.

I cannot stay at my mom's house cause they are not allowed dogs in her appartment, my sister has cats... hubby will not leave so I will not leave. We have lots of friends that offered their homes but I still can't just leave my fish tanks, birds, ponds, yard, or house. I probally should have left, but we should have the drains unplugged soon, and I have to clean one fish tank today, will drain the water outside. I still have running water, just a pain to dump it!!

There is always lots of peole like me that will not leave their homes. They will not arrest them, that would be very hard on these people who are already stress out. Our city mayor must be at great odds with the chief of police..... the other day they had a news conference and the police chief was freaking people out and threatened to arrest everybody who did not leave, then the mayor step in and said but we don't have enough handcuffs for everybody.... he feels sorry for us and wants to help, it is a free country and I'm going to stay if I want to, nobody is going to drag me away kicking and screaming, that would be really bad!!!

Yes, the officials have been really good at letting people stay.
BUT, when they get to the point of turning back on the power, gas and sewer systems, and if it looks like there could be some safety issues (because electricity and water do not mix), I think they will start forcing people out for their own safety. It's just that the fewer people there are to keep track of, the faster all services can get back up and running again.
You may have a porta potti, but there are others that are still using the sewer services and ignoring what effect it has on the recovery efforts.

Good grief Sissy, weird weather all over, you should have seen the lighting storm here last night. I was typing on my tablet and something that looked like a streak of lighting flashed across the tablet screen, I told hubby and he said get off the tablet cause it attracts lightning, wonder if all the wireless devices we have in our homes today are attracting more lightning?

I have lightening rods on my house and still wonder about all the electrical current attracting lightening .I turn every thing of I can and have a whole house surge protector and that does not help .My house got hit by lightening last summer and destroyed the whole house surge protector and fridge and range and my well pump .They paid for everything that my insurance company and deductable did not cover

Last year I had a near lightning strike that took out all my computer equipment and phones. I was on the phone at the time and heard a crackling everywhere.

I bought a policy 60 dollars a year that protects every thing in my house and they paid and the deductable was payed buy the surge protector company .In total damages came out to over 10 thousand dollars .Well pump was over 400 feet in the ground .Glad they paid and I didn't .It was well worth the 60 dollars and only found out about this policy after visiting my insurance agent to get insurance on the other house we bought and that was now 3 years ago .
