I told him his house had sewer backup everywhere last time in 1995 and to plug his drain good!!! I told the old guy too who rents his basement that to move his stuff upstairs that his basement flooded before. Our basement would be full of shit too if we had not stayed and plugged our basement drain good and then we placed hundreds of pounds of heavy lead weights over top of the drain. This is why we never left!! We saved our house last time in 1995 and thank God we saved it again. His house is up for sale too, now it will be unliveable for months!!!

Sissy, pumping out the sewer when you are in a flood will not work. People tired this in 1995, BIG MISTAKE!! What will happen is the sewer will still flow out, cause it is flooding, as fast as you can pump it, but instead of having just the stinky sewer water, your stir up the shit in the sewer more and then you get floating logs and other Sh*t! If you plugged off the sewer and you get just a bit of seepage, then it is OK, but if it comes up so fast and you did not plug off the sewer, it is too late to pump! Most of the people had left and just came today to check their house, only to discover it is full of sewer water. They need to let it drain back slowly at this point, river is still way to high, and it will just bring up poop chunks.

We are having very big thunder storm right now, the water on the street will not hardly drain in the storm sewer cause the river is so high

Guess it's not quite over yet so stay safe and pray for rain to stop! Glad you knew to plug up those sewer drains as you saved yourselves a lot of trouble in the long run.

Mitch, I hear that lots of insurance company's here have a clause now that says they will not pay for sewer damage due to flooding. Lots of people finding out now that their are not insured for sewer backup due to flood and are very sad....

The thunder storm is over and when I checked the sidewalk at the end of the block, the water is slowly draining. Thank goodness it was a short rain shower so no big back up of water on street.

That would be horrible, horrible for all involved to have all that sewage back up in their home. Hope they all get some kind of gov't help in cleaning all that mess up. Can't imagine going through that.

Rain,Rain go away!
Keep the sewer poop at bay!

Bring the sunshine back again,
to chase it all right down the drain!

Life in the evacuation zone sucks... last night it rained hard, which was bad cause I thought the storm sewers would overflow. That little crisis is over, and at least the yard and garden got a good watering. Was worried that my plant's would die from lack of water .... in a flood zone!! We are still not allowed to use excess water and water the garden cause the city has hard time making enough fresh water as they are down by the river and in a flood zone. So if you get caught watering you will get a big fine.

Our basement drains are still plugged so sewer can't back up, but we cannot have a shower and flush the toilet, cause water in river still high and we would risk getting sewer backup in basement if we unplug the drain. I had a shower at my moms house yesterday...

The house is so cluddered still with junk from the basement that it is hard to move around on main floor. Hubby would not let me put stuff back downstairs till the risk of flooding is over.....

The bathroom is now outside in my greenhouse, portable potties in their.....

I have to boil water to wash the dishes and then carry the dirty water outside to dump it in garden....

Yesterday I pick up the dog poop with a bag that may have broke and then cause I was stressed I forgot to wash my hands and then went to eat a orange, halfway the eating the orange I grossed out when I realized this .....

I can hardly get out of the back door, hubby has the generator outside too close to the door, and it is locked to the deck so no body can steal it.....

We are still not supposed to be here, and we are supposed to get the house inspected before we return home... screw that!!!!

Police were driving slowly up and down the street last night, we closed thelights off and set in the dark cause we are not leaving!!! Flood is almost over and I am still worried that they will kick me out of my own house!!!

I need a COFFEEE!! SiSSY don't be surprised if I show up at your house this morning!!!!

Colleen, the Premier has said that everyone affected will be fully compensated. (She's probably going to regret promising that)
That's going to be an administrative nightmare.
I think in order to get one of those debit cards people will need to register at one of the evacuation centers.
Those debit cards will be a great help to help people that need some essentials to get them by for the immediate future.

Temperatures are predicted to be in the high 20's/ low 30's for the coming week. (85 - 95F)
It's going to be mosquito heaven for a while!

Yes we did register right away we heard that!! You should have seen the line of stressed out people like me!!! We now have one neighbor that moved back on the block, but he said he had a little sewer backup, he said he plugged the drain but it must have come out of his basement toilet. Hope his house is not to smelly....
