We don't have the heat here but we have the cold, wet ,humid stuff going on all year long. So do you use the fan cuz of the heat and so would we not need the fan as cooling is not the problem here? Wonder what works good for cold, wet and humid ventwise and wonder how many vents a home should have?

Mine has 4 vents for heat and they say you really only need 2 to pull the air out of the attic .She can check the building department they usually have a pamphlet they can give you or you can get it from the electric or gas utility companies .They give them out for energy conservation .I know our utility company gives out rebates when you buy energy wise appliances .I got 55 for my fridge and 45 for the range and 55 each for the washer and dryer and 35 for the hot water heater ,you just apply online for the rebates for our utility company here .We can also get the books to tell you all the energy saving stuff you can use online also .So she can check with the utility company that services the house .

Big windy storm, making a big mess right now, irises are broken, tall grasses in pond are flattened, and broken branches everywhere!! Good thing is that they should recover quick this time of the year. I will go out tomorrow and clean up the big mess and cut the broken stuff away. At least it is not thundering too bad right now, power is out in some areas of town, lights flickered for a while.

I had a lot of "moisture" last night. Noticed koi pond was about 4" low ... put hose in there around 8, forgot about it until 12:30. Yep, it's full now! It was a slow leak out when it overflowed, so everything on one end and the far end of the goldfish pond got wet, but not big deal. Koi will overflow first into the stream, which feeds the goldfish pond, so both ponds are tip top full now. I'm just hoping I don't have a low koi pond tonight, which will mean a leak. :-(

I lose about an inch a day with the bog and plants, they suck up the water, evaporation too. I have auto watering come on once a day for 1/2 hour to fluff the pond back up

I too keep auto water on for 15mins a day to my pond. Seems to do a great job of keeping things fresh. If overflows no big deal as water is on slow fill so slow out.
Pouring here now and on my way to court to get a restraining order against a kid who pointed a gun at me yesterday and said he would shoot me. Ongoing problem w/ him harassing me when I go for a walk. Cops were everywhere and they caught him. He had a friend w/ him when he threatened me and the friend told the truth to the cops so they put the kid on the ground and took his rifle and hauled him to jail. He is only 14. What a great start to life! Dad is a bad guy so its bleeding off to the kid now. Mom left the dad, said she couldn't take it anymore living there. She should take the son and keep him away from the dad. Hope I can get the restraining order. I heard it is hard sometimes to get one against a minor and you have to do it against the dad too. So I will. Thought for sure the kid was gonna shoot me but he didn't so he must have some good in him left.

Just the fact he threatened you, with a gun in his hand is one tiny step from pulling the trigger, a finger twitch............ He was just not brave enough to take the next step. Don't trust him.

Still pouring rain here. Feels like Fall is here now at only 52F right now. Blah!

Addy don't worry I do not trust him one bit and I will try to stay away from wherever he is at. Turns out the gun was a pellet gun but I don't know guns and just saw something that looked to me like a shotgun or rifle. Still would have hurt if he would have shot it at me.
We need to have someone to serve papers to the dad and the minor son in regards to the restraining order I got today from the judge. I am not allowed to do it of course and I did not want to pay $100. for each person that needed delivery. Would have cost $200. and no guarantee that the police would catch them home that day. So maybe my hubby will have to do it. Will be hard to get the father and son both to come to the door to serve them both at once and then if only serve one will mean the other will be hiding after that. Guess you can serve them anywhere, even on the street corner so may have to do that w/ the kid. If you hand them the papers and they refuse to take them you are allowed to just drop them on the floor in front of them. I will stay away from his place of residence when walking. Don't worry I don't feel like dieing too soon so I'll walk a different way from now on. Guess he spent the night in juvie hall and was let out this morning.

Sissy my sister is still waiting to hear from the sellers on the response to her offer of a reduction in cost for the repairs on the home she wants to buy.

Good Lord JW!! I am scared for you, maybe take some pepper spay with you at all times. The kid sounds unstable, stay away and avoid him like the plague, better yet, stay close to home with some protection. Maybe he will find a new person to pick on if you lay low for a while... till the police can lock him up and thow away the key!

I got my own crisis of what sounds like "bibical" portions! There is a massive amount of flood water expected to flood our town by Saturday. I am scared! Heavy rainfall upstream has caused massive flooding in Calgary, High River, Crows Nest Pass, Lethbridge and many other areas upstream of me. They are saying the flood waters from the Old Man, the Bow, and the Elbow river will pour into the South Saskatchewan river and large scale flooding coming. I hope they are wrong.... in the meantime they opened the flood gates from the Old Man Dam and it is rushing this way as we speak. The news said 10 times the amount of water in the river right now is comming.... please say a pray for us in the flood plain!

Holy cow, Colleen, I sure hope the let enough water out before those flood waters get to the gate, so you don't have any flooding. Praying for you and your neighbors!
JW, I had no idea it would cost that much to serve papers there! Here, in my county, Sheriff will serve papers in town for probably $30. That's highway robbery to serve them for that much! Find another neighbor that will do it for you and pay them $30 for each person they serve. What a deal! I would be afraid for your husband to do them, too, since that dad might know your hubby. What a mess, but I'm sure it will be all worth it in the end. That kid needs to go back home with his mom, who never should have let him go visit his dad, if his dad is like that, and the mom left the dad because of this! Geesh, she is just as bad to allow her child to go be with a dad that is crazy like this. Praying for you as well!
What is the deadline for the seller to tell your sister if they accept or counter her offer, JW? Hoping to hear good news about that, too.
Hot and humid is the ticket for south central IL now. Was 93 here today, and humidity going up. Have AC on about 78, and it feels really nice in here, just getting the humidity out is the key.

I hear the governor of Alberta canceled her trip and is heading back to see the big flood. Cougar creek in Canmore Alberta is now a massive raging river, over one hundred thousand people in Calgary alone evacuated, and all that water plus the water in Lethbridge at the Old Man Dam coming too. They said the mountains have huge waterfalls that turned up everywhere! Scared!
