That's terrible, sissy, but how does a dog catch a fish with his mouth when I have a heck of a time catching them with a net?

popeye is very friendly and easy to catch .He loves belly rubs .I have been out there with pee wee and he comes right up to pee wees nose when he looks into the pond .That's the main reason for the net being there because the neighbors can't seem to keep these dogs penned up .I had the net weighted with a rock but had taken the rock off an hour before .I came in to answer the phone and was just headed back out with a cup of coffee when I saw it happen .popeye and olive oil are my only 2 fantails .I guess if he passes I will have to go to NC and get another one .They were 9 years old .

I guess it is my fault also for making the fish so friendly .I only lost one other fish in 9 years and that is because during mating season he jumped out .I did not know shubbies did that .

You cant blame yourself ... friendly fish are half the enjoyment.

Since you wont get anywhere with the neighbor, do you have access to an airsoft riffle? We had an issue with OUR DOG jumping on the slider (160 lb dog scratches the glass) ... son sent a round of pellets off NEAR her (DONT HIT THE DOG) and it soved the problem. She will not, no way, no how, get anywhere near the slider.

I may have to look into it .I have to do something and i can't blame the dog only the owner .good gosh it looks like an assault rifle do they sell something smaller ,my neighbors think I'm nuts anyway and they will be calling the cops if they see that .I had one of those little guns with the foam thing my son had and they sting but don't hurt but dumb thing broke .I can't find another one any where it had little foam pellets and shot a good distance too .He had it for like 15 years or so and when he was looking in his stuff he found it and I scared them away a couple of times with it .They are some type of little white fluffy dog but they are dirty as heck dogs .I guess they are around 20 or 30 lbs.The male one is the nasty one .

You dont want to get shot by this one. At 40-50 feet will cut a beer can in half (this one runs on gas cartridges) ... holds 30 rounds ... it wont go through the leather of workboots, but it stings through the leather ... I think they make several models ... son also has an airsoft Glock ...

Listen to her sissy, they will do the trick. And yes they do sell smaller PSI guns, if I were you I'd get the smallest PSI you can find, that way it wont hurt the dog if you accidentally hit him. It'll sting for sure! Make him think twice about doing it again!

The leafs are still there from when I repotted but I figured the stems should be growing by now.
Ryan, it's likely working on growing new roots. Be patient, it will be fine. Pull any string algae that is close and easily accessible. Water temp is great for the lilies. They were "shocked" being put in new clay, etc. Be sure as Colleen said that the top of the lily is exposed. But, it just takes time sometimes.
Oh, and we had high 70's yesterday, 80's the next few days. Wow!!! Last night, I looked at weather.com, and it actually showed 47 for Fri for high!!! Looked again this morning, and now it says 63. Go figure .... Pond temp is up to 56 now, will get much warmer in the next couple of days, and as long as we don't get down to low 40's end of week, it should stay above 60 for a while. Woohoo!!!
Fish were all jumping in and out of a group of Creeping Jenny that jumped into the water and made a small mass of green. Pretty sure someone spawned in there, and they were all searching for eggs. LOL

They are Mexican and always claim they don't speak english .That's there claim .Dog warden warned them I have the right to sue them now and maybe that will scare them ,but doubt it .They are in debt and have not payed there taxes in 2 years and even tried to send the credit card bills to my house .They owe sears ,lowes ,home depot and boscovs and I had to call all of them and tell them they have the wrong address listed .The only good thing is they are not noisy neighbors and when they have people over they stay on the other side of the house .The dogs are the biggest problem .Here they have no leash laws but if your dogs disturb or cause problems in the neighborhood then they get warnings .We are in farm country so dogs on farms run loose but they are on farms and these are private homeowners and there should be another set of rules for those type dogs .I fenced a small section of my yard and it is not expensive to do chain link .
Sissy, I live in the country, too. Yes, there are no leash laws, but that does NOT mean my dogs can run rampant in the neighbor's yard and cause problems. There are only 3 houses on the 1.5 mile road I live on. The one neighbor has a Jack Russell, who stays in their yard. My dogs go over and visit with Dot, and they are fine with that. They have no garden, no flowers, nothing, so nothing to get into. The house past me is for sale. I just pray the new owners, when it sells, will like dogs, and not hassle me about mine. If they do, they have every right to tell me to keep them in my yard, and I will do just that! I respect other people's wishes. I would not want their dog coming over and digging up all my flowers, after all, if they came with a new pup or something that likes to dig! It's only fair!!! Good luck with your fantail. It sure is a beautiful fish!!! I'm catching up on this thread, so hoping all is still ok with the fish.

yep one of those want the world but can't afford it .They have 3 kids and he has 3 kids by another women that my sister in law knows .They are not married and not sure how they managed to buy a 175 thousand dollar house .I only buy what I can afford and not sure how she gets food stamps either .The mail lady put something in my mail box for her about them .I guess it was her new card .I have to tell the mail lady all the time about this ,she is always on her cell phone .
That's why they are not married!!! She shows no income, and lies about him living in the household with her! Call your County and report them, see if that doesn't change things for them. In IL, you have to report the total household income. Probably she has a PO Box for her address, not where she actually lives. Yep, I'd report them. We see it all the time. We tell them they have to ask for Child support, and they say, "but we live together". I see they are getting State Aid, and ask about that? Oh, she has a different address than him. Yep, happens all the time. They are working the system, and I'm not prejudice, but Mexicans have learned how to do that very well. You said they bought a $175K house? They probably got some type of State grant to purchase it, and they will lose it once that grant runs out. Sad country we live in for sure!
