Wow, neat slate! I'm sure you will figure out something really neat to make with them. We want to see pics when you figure that out! Or, maybe you should have a contest, "What can we make out of 10 rectangular pieces of slate?"

JW, use your art talents to paint or decopage lovely scenes on each slate.

I would rather use your art talents Lou...............mine would look like cave drawings from prehistoric times
That's a cool idea JW. No kidding. Goggle cave drawings then practice on paper. You could use a slate marker like is used to mark steel. Give it a go! ( Really Big Smile)

Maybe I could leave them laying around in the ground too and after I'm dead and gone and the archaeologists find them they will become great historical references to ancient times. I would find it fun to look down at them from above w/ a smile on my face.............saying "Fooled Ya Suckers!"

Got down to low 20's last night, and only up to high 30's today. Wind was out of the north, and with the waterfall running pretty fast, since I put the pipe just up and above the fall for now, the wind was kicking the water up and all over the waterfall wall, some 3-4' over from where the waterfall was flowing, and caused ice to form on that wall. Really looked strange, no ice on the pond, just on that one block wall. Getting up to 54 tomorrow, and 57 on Fri, or so they say today. I'm hoping they are right this time! Going to cook out on Fri. and have a glass of wine with my girlfriend that just lost her husband. Should be a perfect evening to enjoy the ponds and weather.

They are calling for mid 50s on friday for us too. I was down at the pond tonight. I discovered that our huge maple tree is peeing in the pond. Some how there is still snow on the branches and its melting and dripping into the pond (peeing). I never noticed it last year, but we also only got like a half inch of snow all winter too.

Funny, Ryan! At first I was concerned it was leaking maple syrup into your pond! Was going to tell you to serve up some pancakes to the fish with their syrup! Around here, maple syrup companies have the trees tapped and syrup is flowing. Saw a most elaborate system set up in the woods near my friend's house last weekend. The owners had what I would guess was 1/2" ID tubing running from tree to tree, with cable holding the lines tight, tee valves, unions, you name it, those lines had it. And, somewhere there must have been a pump pulling the liquid to a central collecting place, but we couldn't see it. However, we could see the liquid being sucked down the lines. It was a huge operation, at least 50 trees tapped in the immediate area where we were. Lines running everywhere. I guess if you are a maple syrup company, you relish finding a huge stand of hard maples in the woods!
