Good luck with the bog Brandon!
...for a change!j.w said:Not bad at all here today. Not as much sunshine as the past 2 days but still pretty nice. Up in the 50's so far. Fish happy, cats happy, hubby happy so I'm happy...........hope you all are happy too...........and no I'm not smoking anything :blueflower:
Brandonsdad, go to where the water is just pouring up and out. It might be cold, well will be cold, stick you hand down, follow the water flow, you will be able to feel down to the pipe, feel around, I would be shocked if your pipe is broken, it is open, i.e. holes for water flow, which means holes to release ice pressure. Mine is deep, about 2.5 feet, but even the pipes out in the open, no gravel no insulation have not broken. I have about 8 feet of different exposed pipes, I leave the ends open during the winter. The one pond had 7 inches of ice on it and the pipes are still fine.brandonsdad02 said:Went out to the pond today and it seems to be really cloudy right now. Almost seems like all the water in the bog is coming up from one area so I'm not sure if when the bog froze this winter, something broke. So not looking forward to taking out the almost 3,000 pounds of pea gravel in the bog to see whats going on. If it comes to that, it will give me a chance to change some of the plumbing in the bog and add a clean out pipe too.
Oh the things I get myself into...
Whe it warms up a bit I'll take a look at it. Right now the water is blah, but I'm just hoping its because nothing is growing in the bog at the moment so its just going back into the pond. I've got my dad ready to help me take the pea gravel out of the bog when the time comes. I learned a lot this winter with some things that I need to do different with the bog. I Know that when we pull the gravel out I'm going to add a clean out and have 2 pipes on the bottom instead of one running down the center. Plan is to run a pump for the bog and another for the water fall. Will be taking lots of pictures this time when I do it.addy1 said:Brandonsdad, go to where the water is just pouring up and out. You might have tracking, part of your bog is frozen so the water made a path. Stir the gravel up to remove the path the water is taking.
