Clouds w/sun trying to break out for maybe several more days of Summer. We call it Summer whenever the sun comes out no matter what the temp is here. If it makes it to 70f then that's a real plus 🥰

Rain! Yeah we needed it and need more

We need rain too. We were pretty good through most of spring. Our grass actually stayed green through almost all of summer for the first time in a long time, but it has since dried up and we're back in a drought.

Us too even here in the PNW our grass usually all turns brown and we don't have to mow. This year it has stayed green and we had to mow it all the time. Didn't really get that much rain either but I guess it was spread out enough to keep it growing. Our sun is way limited now tho and rain is coming to stay!

We are getting rain, more of a constant drizzle, light rain. Better than nothing. And it is soaking in rather than running off.

Ye gads, Hurricane Helene was a monster, even for us 100 miles away from the center of the storm (in Pinellas County). I'm "up high", 38 feet above sea level, so didn't have any storm surge from the Gulf, there wasn't that much rain, but the winds and gusts were ferocious. All is well with my family, the pond, and most of our close friends, but there are people who lost everything with the storm surge, and the devastation in N Florida where the storm made landfall is unbelievable.

Another solar flare was detected. Could mean more auroras in the coming days. Like always there needs to be a lot to go right.

As for weather here, it was cool today, and the low is forecast to be in the low 40's upper 30's tonight. :cold:
It is finally feeling a bit like fall though. September felt like summer all the way through.

EDIT: Looks like it was a strong solar flare, not as strong as May but stronger than anything else this year. As usual, I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if anything comes from it.

Took some photos of the sun today. My eclipse glasses from April come in handy for sun photography. Lots of sunspots.

Been at a remote location for several days, no TV, radio, etc. Just now hearing about the devastation from Helene. Hope all our members in that area are OK!
