Have a bunch of cars stopping in the yard this morning. It took me a few minutes to figure why. Blue tarp, rainy Saturday- must be a yard sale! Maybe I can sell my dirt pile!

Heat index 118 degrees F! Just made the rounds, checking on “ponds,” plants, and my turtles....came in soaking wet! My box turtles usually come out of hiding and show themselves whenever they hear my voice, because “Mommy might have food!” Not this time! Fortunately I know where they like to hide so was able to check on them (each turtle has a favorite “spot” in the habitat), and change out their water. But this time, instead of turtles, all I could see were little eyes looking back at me! Time to turn on their mister! Poor little guys!

80 and nice! Guy across the road from me lost 66 koi the other day due to over spray from house painting! Very sad. He's had some for 20yrs and they were huge! Always, always cover your pond when doing anything like that. Fish are very sensitive to chemicals.

66?? How big is his pond, anyway?? Wow. How heartbreaking.

Not big enough for all those koi imo he had in there. It is 3 ft deep and I'd guess about 3 to 4000 gals. I suggested he get Shubinkins but he already ordered about 12 koi from Florida. They are in an aquarium right now and not big at all. Just babies. His filtration is not real good either and he said he is ordering a uv light to get rid of the algae that is building up in there.

Maybe it was just the number of koi not the house spraying

Maybe both paint spray and too many fish. I don't know but 66 fish in that small of a pond is unbelievable. How did they survive for so long? He complains that his filter is not good enough so says he is getting a UV light. Uh I don't think that will help w/too many fish pooing up the water. His filter is a big black thing w/falls something like this I think:

Right now, 84 F and beautiful, clear blue skies! The birds are chirping and gathering at the feeders.

One thing about hurricanes is their unpredictability. Laura is headed for the Louisiana and Texas gulf coast.
The most recent forecast has the “eye” hitting us (NWLA) Thursday afternoon, downgraded to a TS. Ordinarily, those of us up north don’t get more that some mild winds and a lot of rain from these storms, but, as @Lisak1 reminded me, this is 2020, LOL! We should be fine, but thank you for keeping us in your prayers!

The red arrow is where we are.
