We just have mild warmth and sunshine in the 70's all week. I'll take it!

@j.w Thank you. We have now gotten the official “hurricane alert,” over the weather service. I just got finished moving the turtles to their winter tanks in the garage.

Right now we are at 92* with heat index of 96*. Crazy

Bad storm coming. A lot of them miss us, our hills break them up

Fine at the moment, but winds are starting to pick up a little! Predictions are now saying “the worse storm to ever hit here!” Now, I’m starting to get worried! Got carriers ready for the cats (5 now — we adopted a kitten yesterday!) and the cockatiel! Turtles are secured in the garage. Unfortunately, our fish will be on their own in a 300 gal stock tank and Intex pool, though I did lower the water level in both. If we get the 6”-10” they are predicting, I might be outside with my umbrella, hunting for fish in the grass.

Are you out of the storm surge area?

Yes, we are up in the NW corner of the state, so we are safe from the storm surge (thank goodness). Our problems will mostly be rain, high winds, and possibly tornadoes — power outages.

So far, so good! Still have power. Heavy rain, wind gusts to 50 mph. 71 degrees. Many trees down in the local area, but none near us.

Hot sticky heat index heading to over 100 again.

We will get rain this weekend from the storm but that will be about it, maybe some wind. At least that is what they are saying right now.
