I don't even know how they are going to till those frozen farmers fields never mind planting on time. The farmers here usually start tilling the field and some usually plant some early crops by now, but not going to happen this year. Might be good idea to stock up on some grains....

I've seen you post this a few times, and I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. 'Grand solar minimum' means that the sun is less active, and as a result there are fewer sun spots - this happens roughly every 11 years, and can have a small effect on regional weather. It is nothing to do with the Earth's orbit of the sun - which as you rightly say is elliptical. The earth is moving away from the sun, but it's at such a slow rate (roughly one micrometer per year) that it doesn't have any noticeable effect
