Ah man, the rain curved and is now heading right for us. The clouds are still thin enough to see the sun, but I have a feeling it's not gonna hold out.

Got dimmer out but never got dark here. Now it's starting to pass by and let the sun shine again. Boy it sure got cold! Those lens worked great and I've seen enough now. Waiting for it to warm back up again.

Seeing a tiny sliver right now, watching its reflection in our truck window, with dark sunglasses on. The glasses I ordered never arrived, now cancelled.

So happy! A reasonable amount of the eclipse was visible!

Here's the eclipse at peak (83%). Clouds were pretty thick at that point.

20 minutes after the peak, clouds were so perfect, you could see it without a filter.

Things still looked good at 40 minutes after peak, but the filter was needed, thus the orange tint, which actually makes it look better!

I made a homemade filter. I wouldn't recommend it to others, but to be honest, it worked perfectly. I used a bunch of layers of blank film negatives, adding or subtracting layers depending on the cloud cover.

You did get 90%, but only the path of 100% got to see the sunset-like darkness. The sun is so bright that even a sliver keeps us relatively bright.

I bunch of my friends drove down to SC to watch this. They said it was totally worth it, no pun intended.
Here in NJ we had 72%, sunny most of the time, but what was great was watching the community come together for a wonderful time. No politics and other nonsense, hallelujah

was anyone here in the path of totality?

Yep I kept waiting for darkness to fall but at 93% all it did was get colder. Glad you were able to get some nice photo's @JBtheExplorer

We got 4°F cooler at the peak. Not enough to be noticeable.
at 93% you should see it be slightly less bright than it would be without the moon in the way. I think I would've noticed here, but since it was cloudy, it was already darker so it was hard to tell. I have to say, though... I think the cloudiness actually made the viewing experience better than if it were cloud-free. Was so cool watching the thin clouds pass in front of the eclipse. Certainly an experience I'll never forget, and I'm looking forward to 2024.
